Washington at Dallas Game Overview

The Redskins have done a pretty good job at beating the teams they were supposed to this season including last Thursday’s 20-10 victory at home against the New York Giants as seven-point favorites. When it comes to covering against teams as underdogs, they are 4-5 against the spread when getting points this year. The total stayed UNDER 44 points in the win against New York after it had gone OVER in six of Washington’s previous seven games. Its road record ATS this season stands at 3-2.

Kirk Cousins was able to shake off a slow start to lead his team to 10 fourth-quarter points last Thursday night including a 14-yard scoring strike to Josh Doctson. He ended the night with 242 yards passing and two passing touchdowns against one interception that was returned by New York for a score. Overall, the Redskins are ranked 12th in the NFL in total yards (356.1) and 11th in scoring with 23.5 points per game. Their defense stepped things up against the Giants, but this unit is still 24th in the league in points allowed (25.1).

Dallas is in the midst of a three-game slide (SU and ATS) in which it has been outscored a combined 92-22. It is clinging to its playoff life as a result of this sudden downturn after posting the best record in the NFC in 2016. The Cowboys still have a favorable 5-3 record ATS when closing as favorites, but they have failed to cover in four of their first six home games this year. The total has stayed UNDER in their last four games overall.

While you cannot pin everything on Ezekiel Elliott’s six-game NFL suspension coupled with key injuries up front on both sides of the ball for this team’s complete reversal of fortunes, they have definitely not helped the cause in Big D. Second-year phenom Dak Prescott at quarterback suddenly looks very average in the absence of his All Pro running back and the Cowboys’ defense has had trouble slowing anyone down with linebacker Sean Lee out of the lineup due to a hamstring injury. Dallas still has time to turn things around, but that is looking less and less likely with every passing week.

Washington at Dallas Free Game Prediction
Both of these teams are fighting for their lives in the NFC playoff race just to remain in contention for a wild card spot. The Redskins have the slight edge in momentum coming off last Thursday’s win in light of the Cowboys’ three-game slide, but neither team instills all that much confidence when it comes to picking a SU winner in Thursday night’s matchup.
I do believe that this game will remain close for all four quarters with both offenses having some success at putting points on the board. The lean is towards Dallas at home, but my ‘best bet’ pick is the OVER on the current 44-point total line.
