Jacksonville at New England Game Overview

Jacksonville has played at both ends of the spectrum in the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the AFC. Following a 10-3 grinder over Buffalo in the Wild Card Round as 8.5-point home favorites, the Jaguars went on the road to Pittsburgh on Sunday in the Divisional Round and outscored the Steelers 45-42 as seven-point underdogs. They are now 5-4 against the spread on the road this season and 4-2 ATS when closing as underdogs. The total has gone OVER in four of their last six outings.

After struggling to move the ball through the air against the Bills with just 87 total yards passing, Blake Bortles had a much better outing on Sunday in Pittsburgh with 214 yards and a score on 14 completions. He was able to spread the ball around to nine different players with at least one catch. The Jaguars also got a big effort from Leonard Fournette running the ball with 109 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries.

The Patriots showed no signs of slowing down after winning 11 of their last 12 regular season games SU with a 35-14 romp over Tennessee on Saturday night as 13.5-point home favorites in their Divisional Round matchup. New England has been able to cover ATS in 11 of its last 13 games and the total has stayed UNDER in nine of those contests. It has also been able to cover is six of the nine games it played at Gillette Stadium this season.

There is no doubt that Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady is in postseason form with 337 yards passing and three touchdown throws in Saturday’s win. He completed 35 of his 53 attempts while ending the game with zero interceptions and zero sacks. Danny Amendola was his top target with 11 receptions for 112 yards and running back Dion Lewis caught nine balls for 79 yards to go along with his 62 yards rushing on 15 attempts.

Jacksonville at New England Free Game Prediction
I was impressed with the way that Jacksonville moved the ball up and down the field against Pittsburgh and the Jaguars have the added edge of playing with house money as heavy road underdogs. That being said, you still have to ride the hotter hand in this Sunday’s showdown with a play on New England at the current 9.5-point spread. The Patriots are playing their best ball of the year with their sights firmly set on winning another world title.
