Indianapolis Colts vs. Baltimore Ravens Odds & Spread Bet
Betting Odds

The Indianapolis Colts come to MT&T Stadium to take on the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. Last week was important for the Colts. Facing an 0-3 start, the Colts were able to put a 27-17 win on the Dolphins last week, saving their season in the process. This week, they have it tough in Baltimore, facing a Ravens team that has held up well despite dealing with injury issues. On Sunday, the Ravens were strong in a 23-7 road win over the Broncos. Who can cover the spread this week in Baltimore?

What Indy Needs to Do

It's been rough this season with the Colts, but they showed some life on Sunday. It's not easy with Carson Wentz playing banged-up behind an offensive line that hasn't lived up to its billing. They've been leaving the QB unprotected in stretches while not letting Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines do their thing in the backfield. Wentz, under siege more often than not, has not been able to connect for the most part with his deep threats, with Michael Pittman, Zach Pascal, and others only effective in spots. Against Baltimore, they need a big game from Taylor, and on Sunday, his 100-yard performance was a big part of the win. But in this one, they need a big game from someone else, as well. And that line has to keep Wentz protected. They have not been good and added hardship that has really put the hurt on this offense.

Baltimore Overlooked?

On the heels of two straight road wins, the Ravens return home. They have overcome a lot with injuries pelting all facets of their team. But they have held up, and some guys are due to start filing back into the rotation starting this week. Lamar Jackson is still a game-changer. With fewer weapons around him, especially in the run game, their offensive outlook becomes less expansive. However, they've managed to adjust and still flex a meaningful ground game, with enough aerial weaponry to make it stick.

There have been times this season when the Baltimore defense appeared vulnerable, but against Kansas City and the Raiders, that can happen. In their last two games, both on the road, they have allowed a combined total of 24 points. That’s hardly the dilapidated unit we were made to believe was the Baltimore defense. They can be leaky against the pass against more high-powered offenses. But from what we’ve seen from the Colts so far, they fit in more with the teams that the Baltimore defense has done well against.

X Factors to Consider

The Colts have managed to make a bad impression until last week. But even that win doesn't command a lot of respect. Just maybe, with some key injuries and a slow start, we haven't seen the best yet. They seem like a team that could dial it in better. After all, they went to the playoffs last season, and if a few things snap into form, like Wentz, the line, or some skill-guys, maybe they can make a dent. Against a dicey Baltimore pass defense, maybe Wentz is figuring things out, and he can connect better with his weapons this week. Maybe the run-game can continue what they started against Miami last week. If so, we can start to see the kind of balance on this Indy offense that can consistently trouble less-than-elite defenses like Baltimore's.

Until last week and even now to a slightly lesser extent, the Colts were blown off after losing to the Titans, Rams, and Seahawks, not a very easy start to the season. Meanwhile, we see the Ravens winning, but it's against the Lions where they need a record-breaking FG and then a battered and off-key Denver bunch last week. In other words, maybe Baltimore isn't quite as good as they've looked, while the Colts aren't as bad as they've looked.

Indianapolis at Baltimore Prediction ATS - Week 5 MNF Pick
This isn't about being a believer in Carson Wentz or even the Colts in general, but they're not a bad team. There isn't anything they're terrible at. There may be games where their defense falters, or the offense doesn't carry its share of the load. But they're a competent team that got a helpful taste of victory last week and could be getting a little better. I see this being a tough game, with the Colts covering the spread
