The Cowboys saw their slim playoff hopes officially come to an end late Sunday afternoon in a 21-12 loss to Seattle as 4.5-point favorites at home. The loss dropped their straight-up record to 8-7 and they are an even 7-7-1 against the spread after failing to cover in five of their last seven games. The total stayed UNDER 47 points in Sunday’s loss and it has stayed UNDER in seven of their last eight outings. Dallas is 4-2-1 ATS in seven previous road games this season.

With nothing to play for but pride, Dallas will look to regain that sense of flow on offense that quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott were able to create last season and into the early part of this year’s schedule. Many NFL experts will point to Elliott’s six-game absence due to a league suspension as the reason for this season’s collapse, but this duo did not look all that dynamic against a highly depleted Seahawks’ defense in Elliott’s return to the starting lineup in Week 16.

The Eagles have been able to squeeze out a pair of victories in the absence of starting quarterback Carson Wentz to lockup the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Monday night’s 19-10 victory against Oakland moved their SU record to 13-2, but after failing to cover as a 10-point home favorite, Philadelphia fell to 10-5 ATS. It has failed to cover in two of its last three contests and the total has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games. The Eagles will try and run the table at home SU and they are still a profitable 5-2 ATS this season on their home field.

It remains to be seen how much work Philadelphia’s starters get in this game with home field advantage throughout the playoffs already secured. Head coach Doug Pederson has already hinted that he might even give third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld the start even though backup Nick Foles could use the reps in place of the injured Wentz. This game is still a bitter rivalry between whichever players are on this field so it should remain competitive deep into the second half.

Dallas at Philadelphia Free Game Prediction
This Week 17 matchup looked great on paper earlier in the season, but much like last year’s meeting in the season finale when Dallas had already clinched the top seed in the NFC, there is nothing on the line for either team as far as this year’s postseason picture. That is why I am going with the Cowboys both SU and ATS this Sunday. They are still playing for pride while the Eagles are playing to keep their players as healthy as possible heading into the postseason.
