Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens Pick
Betting Odds

The Cleveland Browns (1-2) and Baltimore Ravens (2-1) will face off for an AFC North rivalry collision on Sunday, September 29th, 2019 with a kick-off scheduled for 1:00 PM ET. In 2018, the Brownies and the Birds traded wins in their respective divisional rivalry series with the victor winning by an average of 2.5 points in both affairs. Most recently, Baltimore was the team that got the better result in this feud as they edged out the Browns by a score of 26-24 when the two last met in December. As a seven-point favorite, Baltimore was unable to cover and thus extended Cleveland’s cover streak in this series to two games. Previous to this, Baltimore rode a five-game ATS win streak.

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens Overview

Cleveland Browns

The Browns come into this contest on the heels of a 20-13 loss that saw it fail to cover as a four-point underdog. The result was much to the delight of the betting public who had abandoned Cleveland and backed the Rams. The resultant outcome has only further diminished the stock of this Cleveland team that entered into the 2019-20 season with heightened expectations.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Patty The Kid and the Kansas City Chiefs when Baltimore traveled to Kansas City, last Sunday. Despite the loss, Baltimore looked impressive, falling by a score 33-28. Those that backed Baltimore early at its opening price of +6 greened up while those who took the Ravens at their closing price of +4.5 were on the losing end of the ATS market.

Reasons to Back Cleveland

At every turn, there is a new reason to jettison Cleveland. For me, I find new reasons to back them. The latest rationale to get behind this outfit came as a result of some off-the-field material from former Head Coach Rex Ryan who called Browns Quarterback Baker Mayfield "overrated." Mayfield responded to the commentary with a dismissive demeanor and was further backed up by his running mate Wide Receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. This is the perfect stage to silence the critics. Cleveland has played Baltimore tough as of recent and their motivation will be heightened after some of the remarks directed towards them.

Reasons to Avoid Baltimore

While the stock in Cleveland is through the floor, the stock on the Ravens remains high. As mentioned, Baltimore played Kansas City tough, and this was after many media sources talked up the possibilities of Quarterback Lamar Jackson being an MVP-worthy candidate if he were to defeat Pat Mahomes and the Kingdom at Arrowhead Stadium. Though the Ravens lost, they did look formidable, and there is no doubt that further discussions will continue this week into their quality as they approach their follow-up. All of these discourses, however, have only inflated the public perception of this Baltimore further and sets them up for a hard fall.

Browns at Ravens Prediction 09/29/2019
6.5 is a magic number for me to look hard at an underdog because the market is so reluctant to give said team a full touchdown-plus PAT. When it comes to the Browns, this is certainly an understandable practice as this team hung with Los Angeles all throughout their Sunday Night tilt. However, many will judge the performance by the box score and not the actual game played, and this sets up the Brownies to stage the upset. Generally speaking, this figure presented is an upset-conducive number and I firmly believe that the Browns will upset the Ravens here. However, for those that wish to play this a bit more conservative and avoid Cleveland on the Money Line at +245, there are plenty of points to scoff up and advise all to take advantage.
