Washington Huskies at Arizona Wildcats Free Pick ATS
Betting Odds

Washington is off to a terrible start to this season but ain’t dead yet out in the Pac-12 North, heading into a game it should win Saturday night at Arizona. The Huskies, preseason favorites to win the North, started 0-2, got to 2-2 but are now 2-4. Is there any betting value yet with this Washington team?

The Wildcats, meanwhile, lug an 18-game losing skid into this contest.

Despite its troubles, Washington opened as better than a two-touchdown favorite here, then got bet up from there.

Which way are we going with our free college football betting pick?

Washington-Arizona Betting Odds

This week's college football betting lines opened the Huskies at around -15.5 for this game, with an over/under of around 45. Early betting action then goosed Washington to -18 and dipped that total to 44.5.

Washington-Arizona College Football Betting Preview

The Huskies are just 2-4 on the season after losing at home to UCLA last week 24-17. Washington led 3-0 early but trailed 17-10 at the half. The Huskies then tied the score at 17-17 midway through the third quarter, fell down again midway through the fourth, then threw an interception from near mid-field with five minutes left and couldn’t get the ball back from there, losing outright as a 1.5-point favorite.

Washington produced just 267 yards of total offense last week, allowed 420 yards of UCLA offense, got out-rushed 237-83, and lost the turnover battle 2-0.

So the Huskies have now out-gained just two of their five Power 5 opponents this season and out-rushed just one of their five P-5 foes.

At 2-4 overall, after beginning this season as a Top 15 team, Washington needs four wins over its last six games to become bowl-eligible. But even at 1-2 in conference play, the Huskies only trail first-place Oregon and Oregon State by one game in the North Division, and they get the Ducks in Seattle in two weeks.

The Wildcats, meanwhile, are 0-6 on the season, and 0 for their last 18, after getting blanked at Colorado last week 34-0. But that game was actually closer, in an ugly way, than that score might indicate. Arizona only trailed the Buffaloes 6-0 well into the third quarter, then gave up a touchdown on a blocked punt, another on a pick-6, and another on a 62-yard play from scrimmage, all in a five-minute span, on its way toward defeat.

The ‘Cats also came up empty ATS as six-point dogs.

Arizona got out-gained by Colorado 365-280, lost the turnover battle 2-0, and got absolutely nothing out of a 1st-and-goal from the Buffaloes 1-yard line in the first half when a touchdown would have given it the lead.

Two weeks ago, the Wildcats only trailed UCLA 17-16 late into the third quarter before fading into a 34-16 loss. Three weeks ago, Arizona only trailed at Oregon 24-19 through three quarters before fading to a 41-19 defeat.

The Wildcats have also actually out-gained and out-rushed two of their four Power 5 opponents this season.

At 0-6 overall, Arizona is just looking to halt that long losing skid, on its way toward a hopefully brighter future.

Washington-Arizona Recent History

The Huskies own a four-game winning streak in the series with the Wildcats, going 3-1 ATS along the way. Last year Washington led Arizona 37-0 through three quarters, won 44-27, and covered at -11.
UW/ARI Prediction Against the Spread 10/22/21
Despite its troubles, Washington is just the much better team in this match-up, and while it's not exactly getting great play at quarterback Arizona is down to a freshman third-stringer behind center. Also, the Huskies are actually still in the race in the Pac-12 North while the Wildcats are still going through growing pains under the new coaching regime. So while we don't like going along with the public betting flow, we're giving the points here with Washington.
