The Green Wave ran their current straight-up winning streak to three games with Saturday’s 24-18 victory against East Carolina, but they failed to cover as 10.5-point home favorites. Houston is now tied with Tulane and SMU at 4-2 SU for the top spot in the AAC West Division following Saturday's 59-49 loss to Temple as a 3.5-point home favorite. This was on the heels of a 45-31 setback against SMU as a 14-point favorite on the road two weeks ago. The two-game slide dropped the Cougars to 7-3 SU with an even 5-5 record ATS. The total went OVER 69 points in Saturday's contest, and it has gone OVER in their last four games. They are 4-1 SU at home this season with a 3-2 record ATS.

The Cougars remain one of the highest scoring teams in Division IA (FBS) with an average of 47.8 points per game, but their defense is ranked 106th in the nation when it comes to points allowed (34.4). D’Eriq King threw for 322 yards and five touchdowns in the losing effort against Temple and on the year he has 2,900 total passing yards, and 35 touchdown throws. He also ran the ball 19 times in that game for 125 yards. Houston is averaging 316.5 passing yards and 229.6 rushing yards per game.
