Really, after basically dominating the first half of that game, the Cardinal probably should have lost.</p>
<p>Stanford opened this season with a bad loss to Kansas State but then beat USC outright as an 18-point underdog and beat Vanderbilt 41-23 to cover as a 13-point favorite. The Cardinal then lost at home to UCLA. So it’s a bit difficult to tell right now what you’re going to get from this Stanford team on any given Friday.</p>
<h2>Arizona State Betting Preview </h2>
<p>Meanwhile, the Sun Devils are 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in-conference after beating the Bruins at the Rose Bowl last week 42-23. Arizona State trailed that game 17-10 midway through the second quarter but scored two long touchdowns from scrimmage to lead 24-23 at the half. The Sun Devils then won the second half 18-0 to secure the outright victory as three-point underdogs. </p>
<p>ASU put the game away late in the third when, up by nine, they stuffed UCLA on a fourth down at the 2-yard line, then drove 98 yards to a touchdown.</p>
<p>Arizona State out-gained the Bruins 463-435 and held UCLA 16 points below its season average.</p>
<p>The Sun Devils opened this season with easy wins over FCS Southern Utah and UNLV, although they couldn't cover a couple of huge spreads. ASU then lost at BYU 27-17 even though they out-gained the Cougars by 65 yards. But the Sun Devils then bounced back to beat Colorado 35-13, covering as 14-point favorites.</p>
