Washington stumbled against California and Oregon this season, but beat their rival Washington State to earn the chance to play in this game. Utah lost three Pac-12 games this season but was able to win their final three games to reach the Pac-12 Championship Game. Washington is a 3.5 point favorite over Utah in this game.

Gaskin Carrying Huskies Offense

Running back Myles Gaskin has been solid all season long for the Washington offense but was the "star" against Washington State. Gaskin scored three touchdowns to lead the Huskies over their rival and for the season has racked up 1,076 rushing yards and ten touchdowns. Quarterback Jake Browning has been solid all season long for Washington as well, throwing for over 2,600 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. The Huskies have the ability to put up points on offense.

The Washington defense has carried the team all season long and should have a big game against Utah. The Huskies have allowed just 16.5 points per game this season and held the explosive Washington State offense to only 15 points a week ago. Washington has an extremely athletic defensive unit that will look to take advantage of a backup quarterback in this matchup.

Utah Riding Backup Quarterback

While the Washington Huskies are riding a pair of senior stars into this game, Utah is relying on backup quarterback Jason Shelley. Shelley was forced into action when starter Tyler Huntley was lost for the season, and he has performed well since taking over the job. Shelley has thrown just three touchdown passes, but has thrown for over 700 yards and is averaging more than 7.5 yards per completion. Utah will need Shelley to take care of the ball and sustain drives against an aggressive Huskies defense on Friday night.

The Utah defense is what has propelled the Utes into the Pac-12 Championship Game. Utah is allowing just 19.3 points per game, and they have played even better since losing Huntley to injury. The Utes were able to limit Colorado to just seven points in their last Pac-12 match and have a veteran roster on that unit. Utah will need to contain the run to slow down Myles Gaskin and the explosive Washington offense.

Washington Wins Pac-12 Title 12/01/2018
Washington was expected to win the Pac-12 in the preseason, but they had several bumps along the way. Now that the Huskies have reached the championship game look for Washington to come out and play a strong game. Utah has had a terrific season, but a backup quarterback has little chance against a strong Huskies defense. Look for Washington to win this game by double-digits.
