Clemson’s chances to defend last season’s national title in this season’s College Football Playoff took a major hit a few weeks ago in a shocking 27-24 loss to Syracuse as a heavy 23.5-point favorite on the road. The Tigers also failed to cover against Wake Forest at home the week before in a tight 28-14 victory as 21.5-point favorites. Clemson has also done a decent job at moving the ball on the ground with an average of 219.6 yards per game. This defense is ranked seventh in the nation in points allowed (13.6).
