The Tigers come into Friday night’s contest at 6-0 straight-up, but they fell to 4-2 against the spread after failing to cover as 21.5-point favorites at home in Saturday’s 28-14 victory against Wake Forest. The total stayed UNDER 50.5 points in that game and it has stayed UNDER in four of Clemson’s last five contests. The No. 2 team in the nation will go back on the road this week to try and extend a current SU five-game winning streak away from home.

Quarterback Kelly Bryant is expected to be under center on Friday night despite being limited in practice with a lower ankle injury he sustained in Saturday’s win. He has thrown for 1,259 yards and four touchdowns in his first six starts while also leading the team in rushing with 401 yards and seven scores on 97 carries. Clemson’s defense is now ranked fifth in the nation in points allowed (11.3) after giving up a combined 38 points in its last three games.

Syracuse moved to 3-3 SU on the year with Saturday’s 27-24 victory against Pittsburgh as a three-point home favorite. The PUSH against the closing spread moved the Orange to 3-2-1 ATS and with the total staying UNDER 64 points in that win, it has now stayed UNDER in five of their first six games. Syracuse has gone 1-4-1 ATS in its last six home games and the total has stayed UNDER in its last five games played at the Carrier Dome.

It will be a tall task for the Orange on Friday night just to keep this game competitive given the complete mismatch on the field. Syracuse has had some success moving the ball through the air behind junior quarterback Eric Dungey. He has completed 64.4 percent of his first 261 passing attempts for 1,802 yards and nine touchdowns against four interceptions. The offense is ranked 13th in the nation in passing with an average of 325.0 yards a game. The bad news for Syracuse is that this unit falls to 87th in rushing yards, which could be an issue against Clemson’s impressive defensive front seven.
