Tampa Bay Rays vs. Minnesota Twins Pick 6/25/19
Betting Odds

The Rays continue their long road trip with a visit to Minneapolis for a three-game set with the Twins. Minnesota took three of four in an earlier series back in Tampa Bay but may find the going tougher against lefty Blake Snell who they avoided in the first set. Kyle Gibson gets the ball for the Twins and we’ll be looking to get back on track after an awful start against the Bosox in his latest. The lenesmakers at most sportsbooks has this game at a pick’em with a total line of 9 runs. Get Zank’s breakdown of the stats and his free pick to bet.

Rays vs. Twins Set-Up

Tamps just split a four-game series in Oakland over the weekend, winning Sunday's series finale 8-2. The Rays then had Monday off.

Just before that Tampa got swept three games by the Yankees in New York; just before that the Rays split four games with the Angels; and just before that they dropped two of three to the A's. So Tampa Bay is only 4-9 over its last 13 games.

At 45-33 overall the Rays now trail the division-leading Yanks by five games in the AL East, although they also lead the AL wild-card race by two games over second-place Cleveland.

Minnesota, meanwhile, just split four games at Kansas City over the weekend, losing Sunday 6-1. The Twins then also had Monday off.

Just before that, Minnesota lost two of three to Boston. So the Twins are only 3-5 over their last eight games.

At 50-27 overall Minnesota leads the AL Central by 7.5 games over the second-place Indians, and it's a half-game up on the Yankees in the battle for the best record in the American League.

This series is the second meeting between these teams this season; back at the turn of this month the Twins took three of four games from the Rays down in St. Pete.

Lefty Snell is 8/15 on quality starts this season but also only one for his last four. Last Wednesday he gave up six runs on two hits and four walks through just one-third of an inning in a 12-1 Tampa loss to the Yankees. And over his last four starts, he's allowed 16 ER on 19 hits and 11 walks through just 14 innings.

The Rays are only 7-8 with Snell this season.

Rays at Twins Prediction 06/25/2019
Snell may be a Cy Young winner but based on recent performance and track records against these opponents we give Gibson the edge in this pitching match-up. And Minnesota owns the upper hand with the sticks. We like the Twins as home dogs in this spot.
