Mets vs. Brewers Set-Up
</p>
<p>
The homer-happy Brew Crew grabbed Game 1 of this series Friday night 3-1, cashing in as -125 favorites on the MLB betting line. Milwaukee gave up a Mets run in the top of the first inning, immediately tied the score at 1-1 on a homer by Lorenzo Cain in the bottom of the first, then took the lead for good on a two-run dinger by Ryan Braun in the fifth and hung on from there.
</p>
<p>
Friday's game also played under a total of 8.5 runs.
</p>
<p>
With Friday's loss, New York is just 3-6 over its last nine games. At 16-16 overall the Mets sit in second place in the NL East, 2.5 games back of first-place Philadelphia.
</p>
<p>
With Friday's victory, the Brewers are 5-3 over their last eight games. At 18-16 overall Milwaukee sits in third place in the NL Central, three games behind first-place St. Louis.
</p>
<p>
This series is the second meeting between these teams this season. Last weekend the Brewers took two of three games from the Mets at Citi Field.

<h2>
Saturday's Starting Arms<br />
</h2>
<p>
Lefty Gonzalez began this season in the Yankees organization, opted out, then re-joined Milwaukee last week and made his season debut against this New York outfit last Sunday, allowing just two runs and six hits through five innings, although the Brewers lost that game 5-2.
</p>
<p>
Last year Gonzo finished just 1/5 on quality starts with Milwaukee, but some of that was due to a short leash. The Brewers won all five of his starts for them.
</p>
<p>
In three starts for Washington against the Mets last year Gonzalez allowed just four runs and 21 hits through 17 2/3 innings. Thanks to poor run support the Nationals lost two of those three games.
</p>
<p>
Wheeler is 3/6 on quality starts this season and three for his last four. Monday he gave up four runs on seven hits through six innings of a 5-4 New York loss to Cincinnati, but over his previous four starts he's allowed just nine runs and 23 hits through 26 innings, with 28 strikeouts.
</p>
<p>
Still, the Mets are only 2-4 with Wheeler this season.
</p>
<p>
In his only start, last year against the Brewers Wheeler gave up four runs and six hits through six innings of an 8-7 New York loss.
</p>
<h2>
Saturday's Batting Splits<br />
</h2>
<p>
New York is batting .286/.371/.472 this season against left-handed pitching. But this lineup has also scored a total of just two runs over its last three games.
</p>
<p>
Milwaukee is batting .243/.324/.441 against right-handed pitching this season. But this lineup will probably again be without the big stick in Christian Yelich, who's missed recent action with a sore back.
</p>
<h2>
The Bullpens<br />
</h2>
<p>
The Mets bullpen owns a generous 5.26 ERA this season, along with a 1.54 WHIP and a 122/57 K/BB ratio.
</p>
<p>
The Brewers bullpen owns a 4.71 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP and a 146/64 K/BB ratio.
</p>

Mets at Brewers Prediction 05/04/2019
We'll give Milwaukee and Gonzalez a short edge in this pitching match-up, and although New York might own a short edge in the splits with the sticks, the Brewers own an advantage in the bullpen comparison. So we're going with Milwaukee, the home team at a short price, for our free MLB pick for Saturday.
