Yankees vs. A's Set-Up<br />

New York just split four games at home with Cleveland over the weekend, losing Sunday's series finale 8-4. The Yanks then had Monday off to travel.

Just before that New York swept four games from Baltimore, and just before that it won the last game of a series against Toronto. So the Yankees are 7-2 over their previous nine games.

At 83-43 overall New York leads the AL East by ten games over second-place Tampa Bay, and it's three games up on Houston in the battle for the best record in the American League.

Oakland, meanwhile, just took three of four games at home from those AL West-leading Astros, missing out on the sweep by losing Sunday 4-1. The A's then also had Monday off.

Just before that Oakland split two games with the Giants, and just before that it took two of three from the White Sox. So the A's are 6-3 over their last nine games.

At 71-53 overall Oakland trails the first-place Astros by eight games in the AL West, but it's also just one game back of the Rays in the battle for the second American League wild-card berth.

This series is the first meeting between these teams this season. Last year the Yankees took the season series from the A's four games to three.

Tuesday's Starting Arms<br />
