<h2>
Brewers vs. Twins Set-Up<br />
</h2>
<p>
Milwaukee just dropped two of three games at home to Philadelphia over the weekend, avoiding the sweep with a 9-1 victory Sunday. Just before that, the Brewers split two games at home with Cincinnati, and just before that, they lost two of three at Atlanta. So Milwaukee is only 3-5 over its last eight games.
</p>
<p>
At 30-24 overall the Brewers sit in second place in the NL Central, a game and a half behind the division-leading Cubs.
</p>
<p>
Minnesota, meanwhile, just swept three games at home from the White Sox over the weekend, winning Sunday 7-0. Just before that the Twins swept three games from the Angels in Anaheim. In fact, Minnesota is 4-0 over its last four series and 11-1 over its previous 12 games.
</p>
<p>
At 36-16 overall the Twins lead the AL Central now by 10 games over second-place Cleveland.
</p>
<p>
This series is the first meeting between these teams this season. Last year Milwaukee took five of six games from Minnesota.
</p>
<h2>
Monday's Starting Arms<br />
</h2>
<p>
Pineda, by our strict standards, is only 2/10 on quality starts this season. He's also allowed exactly three earned runs each of his last four times out. Last Tuesday he gave up three runs and four hits through six innings of an 8-3 Twins win over the Angels. And over his last four starts, he's allowed 12 ER and 21 hits, including eight homers, through 24 innings.
</p>
<p>
Minnesota is 5-5 with Pineda this season, 2-0 over his last two starts.
</p>
<p>
This will be Pineda's first-ever start against Milwaukee, which could give him an edge, at least for the first couple of times through the lineup.
</p>
<p>
Lefty Gonzalez is 0/5 on quality starts this year, but that's mainly thanks to a short leash. Last Tuesday he gave up three runs and three hits through five innings of a 3-0 Brewers loss to the Reds, but over his five starts, he's only allowed seven runs and 21 hits through 26 1/3 innings.
</p>
<p>
Milwaukee is 3-2 with Gio this year, 3-1 over his last four starts.
</p>
<p>
This will be Gio's first start against the Twins since 2016 when he was with Washington.
</p>
<h2>
Monday's Batting Splits<br />
</h2>
<p>
Milwaukee is batting .249/.331/.440 against right-handed pitching this season.
</p>
<p>
Minnesota is batting .296/.368/.515 against left-handed pitching this season, which ranks this lineup No. 1 in the Majors in that split.
</p>
<h2>
The Bullpens<br />
</h2>
<p>
The Brewers bullpen owns a 4.32 ERA this season and a 1.25 WHIP.
</p>
<p>
The Twins pen owns a 4.07 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP.
</p>
