Brewers-Cardinals MLB Betting Preview<br />
</h2>
<p>
Milwaukee just swept two games at home from Tampa Bay, winning 5-3 Tuesday, then rallying to take Wednesday's game 4-3. The Brewers then enjoyed Thursday off. Just before that, though, Milwaukee lost two of three games to Cincinnati, and just before that, they got swept three games at Pittsburgh. So the Brewers are 1-2 over their last three series and 3-6 over their last nine games. St. Louis, meanwhile, just lost two of three games at Colorado, losing Thursday's series rubber match 8-6. But just before that, the Cardinals swept three games from the Yankees, and just before that, they swept three games from the Cubs. Going back a bit further, St. Louis is 3-1 over its last four series and 10-3 over its last 13 games. At 61-50 overall, the Cardinals lead the NL Central by a half-game over 60-50 Milwaukee. These two teams have split 12 meetings so far this season.

Friday's Pitching Match-Up<br />
</h2>
<p>
<a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/mlb/pitcherlog/116017&quot; title="Jordan Montgomery Pitching Game Logs">Montgomery</a>, who came over to St. Louis in a trade with the Yankees two weeks ago, is 8/22 on quality starts this season. Last Saturday, in his first start for his new team, he held his former team, those Yankees, scoreless on two hits through five innings of a 1-0 St. Louis victory. But over his last two starts for New York, he allowed nine runs - eight earned - through just 6 2/3 innings of a pair of Yankees losses. New York, a team that's 30 games over .500 this season, only played 9-12 with Montgomery, but the Cardinals are 1-0 with him. This will be Montgomery's first action against Milwaukee since 2017. <a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/mlb/pitcherlog/201683&quot; title="Eric Lauer Pitching Game Logs">Lauer</a> is 9/20 on quality starts this year and two for his last four. Last Friday, he held the Reds to one run and six hits through seven innings of a 5-1 Brewers win. And over his last four starts, he's allowed seven runs and 18 hits through 23 1/3 innings, although he's also walked 12 over that span. Milwaukee is 13-7 with Lauer this season, 3-0 his last three times out. Over two starts already this season against St. Louis, Lauer allowed seven runs and ten hits through 11 innings. The Brewers split those two games.

Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals Analysis & Recommended Bet

We give St. Louis the edge in the pitching match-up partly because Lauer is almost two runs per game worse on the road this season than he is at home. From there, the bullpens are about even, but the Cardinals own a huge advantage in the splits with the sticks. Plus, St. Louis is headed in a good direction as of late. Milwaukee, not so much. So while we don't like going along with the betting flow, we like the Cardinals for Friday night.
