The Mets won the nightcap on Pete Alonso's walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh inning, bailing out a bullpen that gave up a three-run lead in the top of the seventh.</p>
<p>But just before that, New York got swept three games at Philadelphia, and just before that, it lost three of four at Miami. Going back a bit further, the Mets are just 1-4 over their last five series and 7-12 over their previous 19 games.</p>
<p>At 59-55 overall, New York now trails the first-place Phillies by a half-game in the NL East, and it's 5.5 games behind the Padres in the battle for that second NL wild-card spot.</p>
<p>This series is the first meeting between these two teams since 2019.</p>
<h2>Friday's Pitching Match-Up</h2>
