Kansas City Royals at Detroit Tigers Pick
Betting Odds

The Detroit Tigers will look for a sweep of the Kansas City when in the finale of a three-game set at Comerica Park in Detroit.

The Royals are slumping having lost five straight and are on the verge of losing their second straight series. The offense hasn’t been a problem scoring four or more runs in four straight. It’s been the pitching staff that ranks 25th in the majors allowing 5.52 runs per game.

The Tigers come into this game on a four-game winning streak after taking two from the Yankees and the first two in this series. Their 6-3 record is solid with most of the credit going to the pitching staff that has allowed the second fewest runs per game in baseball with a 2.44 ERA.

Pitching Match-up

Brad Keller (R): The Royals right-hander will be making his third start of the season. Keller has impressed so far this season with two strong outings allowing three earned runs over 13 innings of work. He has faced the Tigers just once in his career, and that was a good one allowing one earned run on three hits over seven frames.

Tyson Ross (R): The Tigers starter will be pitching on extended rest after last getting the ball in his April 1st start. Ross was adequate in the game giving up two earned runs over five innings, but he walked four and gave up two home runs. Ross has two lifetime starts against the Kansas City with one coming way back in 2011. He did face them last season and recorded a quality start throwing six innings allowing two runs on four hits.

Pitcher vs. Batter

The Tigers have just 22 plate appearances against Brad Keller amassing a .235 batting average on four hits and four walks and zero extra-base hits.

The forecasted starting line-up for the Royals has 66 career PAs picking up eight hits and seven walks and a minuscule .136 batting average. Only one hitter has a historical average exceeding .167, and that is Lucas Duda who is 3 for 6.

Royals at Tigers Prediction 4/7/19
The Royals Brad Keller gets the start today, and he's been fantastic this year with a 2.08 earned run average and 0.92 WHIP. Admittingly two games is a small sample size, but dating back to last season he has allowed three or fewer runs in nine of his last ten and two or fewer runs in eight of the ten starts. Today he faces a Tigers club that he has success against last season and a club that has struggled to put up runs on starting pitching all season. The Royals have done an OK job at the plate this season, but Detroit’s starter Tyson Ross has owned them with a .136 career batting average in two starts, and the pen has been good with a 3.00 ERA this season.
