Pitching Match Up

Detroit: Daniel Norris (2-2, 4.55 ERA)
Los Angeles: Nolasco (2-2, 4.31 ERA)

Daniel Norris gets the call for the Tigers tonight and in his last start he was not sharp giving up four earned runs in only four innings in a 8-6 loss to the Oakland A’s. Detroit has lost three of his last four starts where he gave up four earned runs in each game and in the lone win in that span it was at home beating the Cleveland Indians 7-1 where Norris only gave up one earned run in six innings of work. Since his first start of the season Norris has not lasted past the 6th inning. This game will be his first career start against the Angels. The Tigers have won five of Norris’ last seven road starts, but those two losses have come in his last two road starts.

Ricky Nolasco gets the start for the Angels tonight and he had a pretty good last outing going seven innings and giving up two earned runs, but he did not get much support in a 3-2 loss to the Oakland A’s. After winning two in a row with him on the hill L.A. has lost Nolasco’s last two starts where he has gone 11 innings and given up six earned runs. This will be his first start against a team outside the AL West and in nine career starts against the Tigers he is 2-4 with an ERA of 4.09. The Angels have won four of Nolasco’s last five home starts.

Detroit Tigers vs. L.A. Angels Prediction
The Tigers have lost two of their last three games, but at least they have been consistent as of late. Well, in their last four games they have two wins where they have scored seven runs and two losses where they have gave up seven runs. With their loss in Game 2 of this series they fell to .500 on the season, but they are only two games out of first place in the AL Central. The Tigers have not had much success in L.A. in many years and have not won a series against the Angels there since the 2009 season. L.A. had lost two in a row only scoring one run in each game before breaking through for seven runs in yesterday’s win. While they sit in 2nd place in the AL West they are still eight games back of the Houston Astros, who are the only team over .500 in the division. Norris has not looked good in three of his last four starts and while the Angels’ lineup has not lit up the scoreboard lately they will put up some runs in this game and with Nolasco having a good start it equals a L.A. win.
