Montreal was in a tough spot last week facing an angry Saskatchewan team in Mosaic Stadium a week after the Riders were embarrassed in Winnipeg. The Als were not able to pull off the upset losing SU 25-27, but they did cover with the extra +6.5 points bringing their ATS record above .500 to 6-5.

The last time these two teams met was in a meaningless game (for the Alouettes) last year in Winnipeg where the home team was victorious 14-31. The Als were a lousy football team last year and the year before and basically since Anthony Cavillio retired, not anymore. Therefore I cannot use recent history reliably. The history I'm focusing on is past five years ago when Winnipeg was still in the Eastern Division, and they played Montreal three times a year. Back then Montreal had the Bombers number, why is that important? It is essential because Montreal, as an organization, doesn't have any psychological hang-ups in regards to playing Winnipeg. The Bombers having an 8-2 SU record against the Als recently won’t be casting any seeds of doubt in the minds of the Montreal locker room.

Winnipeg winning two weeks ago without their starting QB and all-star RB was not overly shocking, because that is what good teams do. Back-up QB Chris Streveller played better with another week of first-team reps and actually completed some passes down the field. The better third of this team is obviously the defense which led by Willy Jefferson is capable of busting any play into a turnover. The Bomber defense is keeping teams to under twenty points a game this season, and I don't see them letting up this week, as long Willy "Inspector Gadget” Jefferson is out there causing havoc the Bombers shouldn’t need a lot of points to win.

Montreal Overview<br />

Montreal is not a "juggernaut" by any means, but they sure are dangerous. The keys to the success of this team lie in two significant places, the head coach Khari Jones and QB Vernon Adams. Jones not only has a lot of experience, but he has shown that he can rely on it to make sound decisions. Jones is smart, and he puts his team in a position to win every play every game. Also, he has one of this year's biggest playmakers running the offense, so that helps. Speaking of which Vernon Adams has played at a high level this year becoming the true dual-threat QB torching teams with his legs and arm. Without VA in the lineup this year Montreal struggled on offense, but with him, they've been in every game and won six out of five. WPG will have to keep that young man off the field if they want to win on Saturday.
