Denver at Oakland Game Overview

Denver has now won its last two games following a two-game slid to improve to 6-2 on the year both straight-up and against the spread. This past Sunday it avenged an earlier loss to San Diego with a 27-19 victory as 3.5-point home favorites. This followed a 27-9 victory against Houston at home as 8.5-point favorites. The total went OVER in last week’s win after staying UNDER in the Broncos’ previous four games. They will go back on the road with a SU 8-3 record in the last 11 games.

Second-year quarterback Trevor Siemian continues to manage the offense with a fairly high level of competency, but the unit as a whole is ranked 27th in the NFL in both total yards per game (326.4) and passing yards (221.6) The running game took a hit with the loss of CJ Anderson, but rookie Devontae Booker is there to fill the void. If the Broncos are going to get a win on Sunday night it will most likely be behind the play of their defense. This unit is fifth in the league in yards allowed and it is giving up an average of just 17 points a game.

The Raiders moved to 6-2 on the year SU with a 5-3 record ATS following this past Sunday’s wild 30-24 win against Tampa Bay in a game that closed as a PICK. The week before they beat Jacksonville 33-16 as two-point road underdogs to improve to a perfect 5-0 on the road both SU and ATS. Oakland has not faired nearly as well at home in losses to Atlanta and Kansas City (SU and ATS) along with a win against the Chargers where they failed to cover. The total has gone OVER in four of its last five games overall.

Derek Carr is in his third season as the Raiders’ quarterback and he has played a big role in the team’s success this season. Last week against the Buccaneers, he threw for 513 yards and four touchdowns while completing 40-of-59 passing attempts. On the year, he is completing 66.3 percent of his passes and he has thrown 17 touchdowns against just three interceptions. Oakland’s defense has been a bit shaky at times and it falls to 22nd in the league in points allowed (25.4).

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders Game Prediction
Sunday night will be a huge test for Oakland in its effort to finally turn the corner and legitimately compete with Denver for the AFC West title. Unfortunately, the Raiders have been a different team at home verses the one that is undefeated on the road this year.
Given that this game is still on the board as a PICK, I am going with Denver to draw first blood in the season series behind a defense that has the ability to contain Carr and the Raiders’ passing game.
