Dallas vs. St. Louis Game 4 Overview

Dallas had no answer for the Blues' relentless attack this past Tuesday night in a 6-1 loss as a +129 road underdog. This followed a split at home in the first two games of this series. The Stars won the opener 2-1 as -113 favorites before dropping a 4-3 decision in overtime as -119 favorites in Game 2. The total has gone OVER 5 in the last two games and it has gone OVER in four of their last five games.

The Stars were able to tally a total of 21 goals in their six-game series victory against Minnesota in the opening round and they actually opened-up a one goal lead in Game 3 of this series before the walls came crashing down. Goalie Kari Lehtonen was tagged for three goals on 27 shots and in relief Antti Niemi gave up another three scores on just 12 shots in the lopsided 6-1 loss. Jamie Benn has been the team's leading scorer both in the regular season (41 goals, 48 assists) and the playoffs (5 goals, 6 assists) so the pressure will be dialed-up to come up big on Thursday night.

The Blues appear to be picking-up steam as this series wears on. Following a grueling seven-game battle against bitter rival Chicago, they showed the effects of that series in a very sluggish loss in Game 1, but it has been all systems go ever since. St. Louis finished the regular season ranked 15th in the league in scoring with 2.7 goals a game, but going back to a 3-2 victory against the Blackhawks in Game 3 of that series it has now scored at least three goals in seven of its last eight outings.

St. Louis has five players with at least a trio of goals in the postseason led by right winger Vladimir Tarasenko and center David Backes with five goals apiece. Brian Elliott has gone the distance in goal and in 10 playoff starts his goals-against average stands at 2.25 with a .933 save percentage. The Blues were ranked fourth in the league this season in goals allowed (2.4).

The Blues are 12-4 in their last 16 Central Division games and they are 17-7 in their last 24 games following a win. The total has gone OVER in four of their last six games following a win.

Dallas Stars at St. Louis Blues Prediction
Dallas finds itself between a rock and a hard place in Game 4 against a Blues team that is in prime position to take complete control of this series. While I like St. Louis at home in this one, my "best bet" pick is the OVER 5 on the total line with both teams finding the back of the net this time around.
