Washington at Philadelphia Game Overview

The Redskins have set the pace in the NFC East all season long, but their grip on first place is slipping away with back-to-back losses to Houston at home and Dallas on the road as part of a 1-3 straight-up record in their last four games. Washington is 7-4 against the spread, and it has covered in three of its first five road games. It is has gone 6-2 ATS this season when closing as an underdog. The total has gone OVER in three of its last four contests.

One of the reasons for the recent slide is the loss of veteran quarterback Alex Smith, who suffered a severe ankle injury in the loss to the Texans. In his place against the Cowboys last Thursday, Colt McCoy took over the reins, and he completed 24-of-38 passing attempts for 268 yards and two scores. However, he was also picked off three times along with three sacks. The ground game was held to 80 yards on 20 carries in the 31-23 loss.

Despite the fact that Philadelphia has yet to win back-to-back games this season, it remains right in the thick of the NFC East title race. The defending Super Bowl Champs are battling to get back to .500 on the year after beating the rival New York Giants 25-22 last Sunday as five-point home favorites. The Eagles have been a tough bet at 3-8 ATS, and they have failed to cover in five of their first six home games. The total has stayed UNDER in seven of their first 11 games overall.

Injuries to the defensive secondary have not helped the cause for a Philadelphia defense that is ranked 24th in the league in total yards allowed. This side of the ball is giving up an average of 23.0 points per game. Carson Wentz is still the Eagles’ best chance to turn things around and make a run back to the playoffs. He threw for 236 yards and one touchdown last Sunday against New York while completing 20 of his 28 passing attempts. One good sign in that game was the team’s 127 rushing yards on 29 carries.

Redskins at Eagles Prediction 12/03/2018
The overall impact of losing Smith at quarterback was rather evident in the recent loss to Dallas. The Redskins have gotten the best of things in this series in recent years, especially on the road, but the Eagles are still too good of a team to go down without a fight.
I like Philly SU, but it has a habit of making things as tough as possible on itself win or lose, so I will take the 6.5 points and take the Redskins ATS.
