Tampa Bay lost 19-14 to New England last Thursday due to PK Nick Folk’s inability to make 3 FGs. QB Jameis Winston’s pass at the goal line was deflected in the final seconds. If Folk (since released) had made one of his FGs, the Bucs would have been in position for a game-winning FG attempt. Winston finished the night 26-46 for 334 yards and a TD. He didn’t commit any TOs. WR DeSean Jackson caught 5 passes for 106 yards. RB Doug Martin played in his first game since serving a 4-game suspension and ran for 74 yards on 13 attempts. He also scored a TD. The defense allowed 289 passing yards and 113 yards on the ground. They had 3 sacks, picked off a pass and recovered a fumble.

Arizona dropped to 2-3 with a 34-7 beat down administered by Philadelphia last Sunday. QB Carson Palmer was 28-44 for 291 yards and a TD pass. It was one of his better games on the year. He was sacked twice and didn’t commit a TO. The ground game continued to falter in the absence of RB David Johnson. It produced only 31 yards on 14 carries. The defense had a tough day as they surrendered 297 passing yards, 4 TD passes and 122 yards rushing. They had an interception and a sack. SS Tyvon Branch led the way with 10 tackles.

Injury Notes

Buccaneers: Rookie safety Justin Evans will get his second straight start with Keith Tandy still sidelined, but he didn’t look out of place last week against QB Brady and the Patriots. MLB Kwon Alexander DNP last week and has been ruled out again, but WLB Lavonte David has a shot to return.

Cardinals: Arizona is beat up at the defensive tackle position. All starters are expected to play, but NT Corey Peters is dealing with a knee injury and backup DT Olsen Pierre is out and Robert Nkemdiche is questionable. Not injury related, but the Cards will make a change on their offensive line this week promoting Earl Watson to take over at right guard for Evan Boehm. RB Adrian Peterson was acquired from the Saints and will start.

Bucs at Cards Free Total and ATS Pick
It’s difficult to get a really good read on where Tampa Bay is on their progression in 2017 mainly because of Hurricane Irma having them with one less game under their belt than their competition. What we have seen though is a team that can move the ball with 400 plus combined yards in their last two and over 300 yards passing in three straight. Arizona has certainly not lit it up this season, averaging just 16.2 points per game, while facing three lower level points per game clubs. Their offense does match up well on paper against the Bucs defense, but with the O-Line changes and RB Peterson new to the offense they may not be totally in sync this week. If they exceed my expectations in this game, the total will be an easy over, but the Bucs prevail.
