The Seattle Seahawks take on the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in week 15 NFC West divisional action on Sunday. Both teams are coming off nice weeks, with Seattle drubbing Houston, 33-13, for their second straight win. The Rams, meanwhile, were able to turn the tables on first-place Arizona, winning a 30-23 contest on the road on Monday Night Football. Now back at home, the Rams look to repeat their week five 26-17 win over Seattle this week. Who can get it done on Sunday in Inglewood?

Matchup Issues for Seattle

After giving up 331 yards to Houston QB Davis Mills on Sunday, the thought of facing a stacked Rams' aerial offense must be daunting. Stafford went for 365 yards in the first game and has appeared to dial that part of his game back in after a little slump. Granted, we've seen a Seattle defense in the second half of the season not allow a ton of points, with 19 average points allowed over a 7-game stretch. Sometimes, opposing production doesn't materialize into actual points against a "D" that bends without breaking very often. Even in the first game, a 26-point allowance in light of Stafford airing it out all day along with a big rushing performance wasn't so bad. It's just that against a Rams' team that has gotten its act together the last few weeks, we could see the levy break this week.

The Rams have also gotten it together on the other side of the ball the last few weeks, getting turnovers and going after opposing quarterbacks. The last time they played Seattle, the Rams knocked Russell Wilson out of the game and, for several weeks, underlining how easy it can be for guys like Aaron Donald to wreak havoc on this Seattle offensive line. And while Rashaad Penny was good at running back last week against Houston, being so deep in the RB barrel could cost Seattle this week against this Rams' front behind that dicey O-line.

Issues for the Rams?

We will see during the week how the injury component shakes out. Not having Jalen Ramsey hurt last week for the Rams, who did absorb an undue amount of big pass plays from Murray and the Cardinals. We've seen better offense as Wilson gets healthier and back to close to top form. With Tyler Lockett and the red-zone contributions of TE Gerald Everett, Wilson is finding more success. What would really make it stick is if DK Metcalf could shake loose from his recent doldrums, as his recent usage has left much to be desired. Another possible perspective that could enhance a potential position on Seattle is the possibility that a win over Jacksonville and a triumph over Arizona, where they got a lot of Cardinals' mistakes to exploit, might not mean the Rams are all the way back yet.

The Urgency Quotient

NFL players don't necessarily need a compelling list of reasons to go out there and perform. Judging teams too heavily on the basis of what they have riding on the game can lead someone well off-course. And two wins in a row shows the Seahawks aren't in cruise control looking to get to the end of what will be looked at as a failed season. Still, the Rams are in the midst of fully righting their ship after a three-game slide threatened to send them crashing onto the rocks. There are divisional and playoff considerations at play. When the Rams hit the ground running this season, their goal wasn't a wild-card spot. They're a team with an agenda, and we very well may see the corresponding urgency this week.

Seattle at LA Rams Prediction 12/20/21
This could be a game where we see the Seattle team liabilities manifest in a more-vivid way than what we've been seeing. That includes suspect play along both lines of scrimmage, a depreciated run-game, a limited aerial scope for Wilson, along with a defense that might be prime to hit a wall. I suspect the Rams will have an easier time converting production into point-scoring on Tuesday. And on defense, they should get after Wilson with a fervor, while perhaps eliciting some mistakes from the Seattle offense. In the end, I see the Rams laying it on heavy at home and getting to the finish line with the win and cover in week 15.
