Two of the league's most mobile quarterbacks face off in Week 12, as Russell Wilson and the Seahawks will be traveling to Bank of America Stadium to take on Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. The Seahawks are coming off a big Thursday night win over the Packers, putting their record at 5-5 on the season. Carolina has hit a bit of a roadblock losing two straight games to the Steelers and Lions, but still, hold second place in the NFC South.

Seahawks Seeking Huge Road Win

On the season the Seahawks are 3-3 when playing on the road. Russell Wilson is completing 66% of his passes this season and has thrown for 2,192 yards with a 23:5 TD to INT ratio. While the Seahawks are working on revamping a defense that was once known as the “Legion of Boom”, the offensive line and running game has been much improved this season. The offense ranks 1stoverall in rushing yards per game (154.3), but are bottom of the league in passing yards (196.8). The team decided to spend their first-round pick on RB Rashaad Penny who is third on the team in carries (62), behind Mike Davis (82) and Chris Carson (128).

Last season Russell Wilson led the team in rushing with 95 carries for 586 yards and 3 TDs. The offense is perhaps one really good wide receiver away from having a much-improved passing game and a more dominant offense. Tyler Lockett leads the team in receiving with 58 receptions for 554 yards and 7 TD's, while the team's number one receiver from last season, Doug Baldwin, is coming off his best performance of the season against the Packers reeling in 7 catches for 52 yards and his first touchdown of the season.

Panthers Looking to Avoid Third Straight Loss

The Panthers fell short to the Lions in Week 11 20-19 after head coach Ron Rivera decided to go for a 2-point conversion following an 8-yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton to rookie WR D.J. Moore with 1:07 left on the clock. "I think you go for two on the road to win the game – that's what I did at the end of the day," Rivera said. "I was going for the win. That's the bottom line." They don't call him "Riverboat Ron" for nothing as the gamble didn't work this time for the Panthers. Kicker Graham Gano's struggles played a role.

The usually very reliable kicker missed a 34-yard field goal attempt, and an extra-point try earlier in the game. Aside from the tough loss, D.J. Moore had himself a day catching 7 balls for 157 yards and a touchdown. His longest play of the day came on an 82-yard "catch and run" as the rookie receiver continues to impress. Newton finished with 357 passing yards, 3 TD's and an interception, while the Lions defense did a good job containing duel-threat RB Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey finished without a touchdown on 13 carries for 53 yards and 6 receptions for 57 yards.

This is a huge game for both teams that are battling for an NFC wildcard playoff spot. The Panthers are favored -3.5 at home this week and will try to remain undefeated at home this season. The Seahawks lead the all-time series with an 8-4 record and winners of six of their last eight matchups against the Panthers.
