Philadelphia at Dallas Game Overview

The Eagles started the season 3-0 both straight-up and against the spread in a run that included a 34-3 rout of Pittsburgh as four-point home underdogs. After losing back-to-back games to Detroit and Washington as favorites on the road, they snapped that skid with a solid 21-10 victory against Minnesota this past Sunday as three-point underdogs at home. The total stayed UNDER 38.5 points in that game and it has stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in four of their first six games.

The big story in Philadelphia this season has been the play of rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. He has cooled a bit the past few games after a very fast start, but he still has this offense headed in the right direction following last season’s losing campaign. Special teams and defense have really stepped up their game with a total of 21 points scored the past two games. The Eagles are ranked third in the NFL in points allowed (14.7) and fifth in yards allowed (307.0). This unit also has 12 takeaways to its credit.

Dallas went into last week’s bye with a SU 5-1 record while going 5-0-1 ATS. Its current winning streak reached five games with an impressive 30-16 victory over Green Bay in Week 6 as a 5.5-point road underdog. The total stayed UNDER 47.5 points in that game and it has stayed UNDER in four of its first six games this year. This was just the Cowboys’ second SU win in their last 10 home games and the total has now stayed UNDER in eight of their last 11 games overall.

A pair of rookies have taken center stage in Big D with Dak Prescott playing at a high level in place of veteran Tony Romo at quarterback and Ezekiel Elliott leading the NFL in rushing with 703 yards on 137 carries. This one-two punch has been able to flourish behind one of the best offensive lines in the league. Dallas is ranked third in the NFL in yards per game (401.5) and seventh in scoring with 26.5 points per game.

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys Prediction
Dallas has definitely been the more consistent of the two teams, especially on offense behind a strong running game. However, the Eagles bring quite a bit of momentum into this game following last week’s upset over Minnesota. This is the kind of matchup where that extra half point on the current spread could make all the difference in the world.
I have been burnt by Philadelphia on the road this season, but I am going to bite on that attractive 4.5-point spread in what I see as a three point game either way.
