Oakland at Washington Game Overview

More than a few NFL experts had Oakland as their pick to win the AFC this season and at 2-0 both straight-up and against the spread it is certainly headed in the right direction. The Raiders opened the new season with a 26-16 victory on the road against Tennessee as 2.5-point underdogs ahead of last Sunday’s 45-20 pasting of the New York Jets as heavy 13.5-point favorites at home. Oakland is now 9-4 ATS in its last 13 games.

A healthy Derek Carr at quarterback is a big reason why the Raiders lead the NFL in scoring through the first two weeks. He has completed 75 percent of his first 60 passing attempts for 492 yards and five touchdowns against zero interceptions. Michael Crabtree has caught 12 passes for 163 yards and three scores as his favorite target and Marshawn Lynch is the team’s leading rusher with 121 yards and one touchdown on 30 carries.

Washington opened its season with a 30-17 loss at home to division rival Philadelphia as a slight one-point underdog. The total stayed UNDER the closing 49.5-point line. Last Sunday on the road against the Los Angeles Rams, it came away with a tight 27-20 victory as a three-point underdog. The total in that game ended as a PUSH. The total has gone OVER in 17 of the Redskins’ last 23 games.

Kirk Cousins started the season with a rough outing against the Eagles’ relentless pass rush, but he had better success against the Rams including a game-winning touchdown strike to Ryan Grant with less than two minutes left to play. Overall, he has completed 41-of-67 attempts for 419 yards and two touchdowns. Washington’s ground game led by Rob Kelly has piled up 293 yards on 56 rushing attempts in those first two games.

Oakland Raiders at Washington Redskins Week 3 Prediction
Oakland’s fast start out of the gate along with its proven ability to cover on the road the past few seasons makes the Raiders a very attractive play on Sunday night. Adding some value to the betting odds for this inter-conference clash is the AFC West’s perfect 2-0 record both SU and ATS against the NFC East this season. I am banking on the Raiders extending this streak to three as my ‘best bet’ pick in this game.
