Giants-Eagles NFL Playoffs Betting Preview

New York reached this NFC divisional-round game by outlasting Minnesota in a wild-card game last weekend 31-24. The Giants spotted the Vikings the first seven points but came back to lead 17-14 at the half. New York then drove the opening possession of the second half to a touchdown to go up by 10 but Minnesota rallied back to tie the score at 24-24 early in the fourth quarter. The Giants then immediately drove 75 yards to the go-ahead score and held on from there. New York beat the Vikes outright as a three-point dog and cashed in at +160 on the money line. The Giants out-gained Minnesota 431-332, out-rushed the Vikings 142-61, converted 7/13 on 3rd downs and won time of possession by a 34:26 split. That was the second time this season New York out-played Minnesota. The Giants actually only out-gained six of their 17 opponents during the regular season and only out-rushed seven of 17 foes. But New York also only turned the ball over 16 times, second-fewest in the League, and committed zero turnovers last week. Philadelphia reached this NFC divisional-round bout by playing 14-3 this season, which earned it the top seed for these NFC playoffs and a wild-card bye. The Eagles started 8-0, with wins over the Vikings, Jacksonville and Dallas, before losing a game to divisional-rival Washington. Philadelphia then won five more in a row but lost QB Jalen Hurts to a shoulder injury, then lost two straight. But with a final chance to secure that No. 1 seed Hurts returned for the season finale two weeks ago and the Eagles beat the Giants 22-16. So Philadelphia is back in the playoffs for the second straight season under Coach Sirianni, with QB Hurts. The Eagles scored the first 19 points of the game two weeks ago against New York, which was resting many starters. Philadelphia then didn’t allow the Giants back to within one score until a minute and a half remained. The Eagles out-gained 13 of their 17 opponents this season and out-rushed eight of 17 foes. But they also finished 3-7 ATS over their last 10 games because they were favored by too much in wins against Houston, Indianapolis, Chicago and these Giants.

The Eagles swept the season series from the Giants this year by scores of 48-22 and 22-16. Philadelphia bounced out to a 21-0 lead in that first match-up just six weeks ago at MetLife Stadium and covered at -7.5. Then two weeks ago the Eagles, as mentioned above, beat New York in Philly 22-16 in what was a meaningless game to the Giants.

Giants at Eagles Prediction ATS 1/21/23
New York is 5-0 ATS its last five times out, averaging more than 150 yards on the ground, getting really good play at QB and improved play on defense. Philadelphia, meanwhile, stumbled just a bit down the stretch but has Hurts back. The Eagles beat the Giants soundly in the first meeting this season but New York is better than it showed that day. Ultimately, we believe familiarity will play a big role in this game, and momentum might play a part, too. We won’t call for the outright upset here but we like the Giants plus the points.
