New York thrashed Tennessee 30-8 last Sunday. Dallas saw their faint playoff hopes flicker out in a 28-7 loss to Green Bay last week.

The Jets were able to run and pass effectively last week and that is what they will look to do in this contest. RB Chris Ivory is coming off a 101-yard game against the Titans and faces a Cowboys squad that got gashed for 230 yards last Sunday. RB Bilal Powell has stepped up and been productive in a backup role as both a runner and receiver (35 catches, 3rd on team). QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has moved on from a gamer manager to a big part of the offense. His 25-11 TD/INT ratio is acceptable and he has taken advantage of his top two wide receivers (Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall) skill set. Both are big, strong and know their way to the end zone. They have combined for 20 TDs on the year. The Dallas pass defense has been good this season in terms of yardage allowed and they have given up only 14 TD passes but they will have their hands full with this duo.

The Cowboys offense is just about nothing without QB Tony Romo. QB Matt Cassel had a terrible game against Green Bay, going 13-29 for 114 yards and an interception. Even WR Dez Bryant is a non-contributor in Romo's absence. Cassel will also have to worry about a Jets pass rush that had 5 sacks last week. The Cowboys run numbers were astounding against the Packers (20-171-1) and RB Darren McFadden joined a very exclusive club of RBs who have gained 110+ yards rushing in a game on less than 10 carries (9-111). They now face a New York defense that allows only 79 yards per game on the ground (24 yards vs. the Titans). The Jets will not fear this passing offense and will look to crowd the line to stop the run.

These teams are going in very opposite directions. The Cowboys had slim hopes when Romo returned and despite the mediocrity of their division, they haven't been able to make any strides. The Jets won't win the AFC East but are in control of their own destiny where the wild card is concerned. They host the Patriots next week but HC Todd Bowles will not allow this talented team to look ahead to that huge matchup. They have to take care of Dallas first and I expect their offense and defense to be too much for the Cowboys to handle. The small spread helps also.
