New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers Free Pick ATS
Betting Odds
The Giants and 49ers met for some huge games a generation or two ago, and they’ll meet for an interesting match-up on this week's edition of Thursday night football.
San Francisco is 2-0 in this young season and playing like a Super Bowl contender. New York is 1-1 but should consider itself lucky not to be 0-2.

NFL Betting Lines
The Week 3 NFL betting market opened San Francisco as a 10-point home favorite for Thursday night, with an over/under of right around 45. Both figures were holding steady in the early betting action.
Giants Betting Preview
New York is 1-1 on the season after coming from behind to win at lowly Arizona last Sunday 31-28. The Giants let the Cardinals, who were playing with Josh Dobbs at QB, hit the board on four of their five first-half possessions
while producing nothing offensively themselves and trailed 20-0 at the half. New York still trailed 28-14 well into the fourth quarter but scored touchdowns on consecutive drives to forge a 28-28 tie, then won it on a field goal with 19 seconds left.
But the Giants came up short ATS at -4.5.
New York out-gained Arizona 439-379, gaining almost all that yardage in comeback mode. The Giants also gave up 151 yards of Cardinals rushing yardage.
New York opened this season with a totally embarrassing 40-0 home loss to Dallas. Considering they fell behind to Arizona 20-0, the Giants should consider themselves lucky to be 1-1.
On the injury front, New York RB Saquon Barkley, who scored two touchdowns Sunday, is out for a month or so with a bad ankle.
49ers Betting Preview
San Francisco is 2-0 on the season after beating the rival Rams on the road last week 30-23. The 49ers drove the opening possession of the game 75 yards to a touchdown, then fell behind 17-10, but scored on the last play of the second quarter to take a 17-17 tie into halftime. San Fran then scored the first 10 points of the second half to basically take control on its way to victory.
However, as was heard around the NFL gambling world, a meaningless Rams field goal on the last play of the game cost the Niners the cover at -7.5.
San Francisco actually got out-gained by Los Angeles 386-365 but out-rushed the Rams 159-89 and won the turnover battle 2-0, creating at least a +6 points differential.
The 49ers opened this season with a convincing 30-7 victory at Pittsburgh, covering easily as two-point favorites.
San Francisco is playing against a wins over/under this season of 10.5, the Giants 7.5. And now Barkley's out.
The 49ers still stand undefeated while getting +1300 on the “last unbeaten team” betting board.
Giants-49ers Recent History
These teams have alternated winning their last six meetings, stretching back to 2012. Most recently, three seasons ago, San Fran won at the Giants 36-9. Nick Mullens, now with Minnesota, quarterbacked the 49ers that day against Daniel Jones for New York.
NFL Betting Trends

NFL favorites are 18-14 SU but 11-19-2 ATS this season.

Giants vs 49ers Betting Pick
San Francisco gets our football handicapping check-marks in the QB comparison, with the running game, and with the (much) better defense. So we're guessing the 49ers might win this game. And so far in the NFL this season, the teams that won the game outright are 25-5-2 ATS. We're trying not to overthink this one; we'll take Niners and give the points.
