Minnesota at Chicago Game Overview

The Vikings have been on a roller-coaster ride since Week 1 with a loss following a win over the first four games. They are 2-2 both straight-up and against the spread heading into Monday night’s contest. The total stayed UNDER 43.5 points last Sunday in a 14-7 loss to Detroit at home after easily going OVER 41 points in Minnesota’s 34-17 victory in Week 3 home game against Tampa Bay with the betting line closing as a PICK.

Question marks at the quarterback position are the storyline for Minnesota heading into this game. The first one would be Sam Bradford’s availability after missing his last three starts with a knee injury. The second (if Bradford cannot go) is which version of Case Keenum will take his place; the one that threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns against Tampa Bay or the one that completed just 53.3 percent of his 30 passing attempts for 219 yard and zero scores in the loss to the Lions.

Chicago stunned the betting public in Week 3 with a 23-17 upset over Pittsburgh as a 6.5-point home underdog. The Bears looked stunned last Thursday night in a 35-14 loss to Green Bay as seven-point road underdogs that dropped them to 1-3 SU and 2-2 ATS on the year. The total has stayed UNDER in three of their first four games. They remain a solid bet at home with a 6-1 record ATS in their last seven games at Soldier Field including a cover against Atlanta in Week 1 as 6.5-point underdogs.

The quarterback position in Chicago has also been an issue, but there is no question as to which player will get the start on Monday night with head coach John Fox turning to rookie Mitch Trubisky to try and reverse this unit’s fortunes. With Mike Glennon under center, the Bear’s offense is currently ranked 27th in the NFL in passing yards and it falls to 29th in scoring with 15.2 points per game. The one bright spot has been the play of another rookie; Tarik Cohen. He has rushed the ball 30 times for 181 yards and he has caught 24 passes for 150 yards and a score.

Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears Week 5 ATS Prediction

The Vikings have already proven that they know how to score points and win games at home although that was not the case last week. The jury is still out on this team as a favorite on the road against a Bears’ team that has done a good job at playing its best ball at home. That puts enough doubt in my mind to take the three points and take Chicago to cover again at Soldier Field.
