Miami Dolphins at New York Jets Week 3 Point Spread Pick - Odds - ATS Prediction
Betting Odds

Miami opened their season with a 19-17 victory over the Chargers last Sunday. New York was run over in a 45-20 loss to Oakland last week.

The Dolphins looked pretty good against the Chargers after being displaced by Hurricane Irma. QB Jay Cutler was very efficient and didn’t turn the ball over, a huge bugaboo for him in his career. He’ll face a secondary that has allowed 5 TD passes in 2 games and don’t have the horses to corral a fine stable of wideouts in Miami. WR Jarvis Landry had 13 catches last week, WR Kenny Stills scored on a 29-yard reception and WR DeVante Parker averaged 21.2 ypc on 4 receptions. TE Julius Thomas is also a threat and the Jets have to up their pass rush as they have recorded just 2 sacks in 2 games. RB Jay Ajayi (122 rushing yards last Sunday) should do well against a defense that has allowed a whopping 370 yards on the ground so far in 2017. With a dearth of talent on the defense, expect several scoring drives by the Dolphins.

New York’s offense is also having their issues. QB Josh McCown posted nice stats last week but he was also sacked 4 times (5 for the season). Newly-acquired WR Jermaine Kearse has been the only reliable target and while Miami’s pass defense is far from elite, they should be able to handle a very young and raw group of wideouts. RB Bilal Powell has been kept in check through 2 games and the Dolphins will key on the run early and force McCown to consistently beat them through the air. That formula worked last week (44 rushing yards allowed to LA) but they were also aided by a missed FG at the final whistle.

Public Money Consensus

In this week 3 NFL matchup between Miami and New York Jets have the public jumping all over the Dolphins led by QB Jay Cutler minus the 6 points with 76% on board. The over/under bettors are thinking this game will go over the posted total line of 41 with 68%.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets Week 3 NFL Prediction
Miami catches a break as they don’t have to travel in the cold to play the Jets. Cutler was decent last week and doesn’t need to do more to lead his team to a win this week. A heavy dose of Ajayi early should set the tone and Cutler can then pick apart the secondary with his many weapons. New York is one of the three worst teams in the league and should be no match for their division rival. The number is less than a converted TD and I expect the Dolphins to go to 2-0 with another big road win.
