Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers Betting Preview & Predictions
Betting Odds

The Packers are 5-8 but still harbor slim hopes of making the playoffs. The Rams are 4-9, down several key players, and operating with a quarterback they just picked up off waivers. This is the situation heading into this week’s edition of NFL Monday night football betting action at what should be a very chilly Lambeau Field.

Which way are we going here with our free Rams/Packers pick?

NFL Betting Lines

The Week 15 NFL betting odds opened Green Bay as a 7.5-point favorite for Monday night, with an over/under of right around 40. Early betting action then knocked the hook off that seven.

Rams-Packers NFL Betting Preview

Los Angeles just snapped a six-game losing skid by rallying late to beat Las Vegas last Thursday 17-16. The Rams gave up the first 10 points of the game, trailed 13-3 at the half and 16-3 late in the fourth quarter. But new QB Baker Mayfield, in for injured back-up John Wolford, directed LA to two late touchdowns, the second with 10 seconds left, to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

The Rams got out-gained by the Raiders 302-282, out-rushed 165-71, and basically out-played. They’re just lucky Las Vegas is so generous.

Los Angeles has now been out-gained by six of its last seven opponents and out-rushed by six of its last ten foes.

Two weeks ago, the Rams led at Seattle late, lost 27-23 on a touchdown with 30 seconds left but covered as seven-point dogs. Three weeks ago, Los Angeles fell at Kansas City 26-10 and just missed ATS at +15.5.

At 4-9 overall, the Rams are on their way toward posting the worst record ever by a defending Super Bowl champion.

Green Bay, meanwhile, snapped a two-game losing skid last time out, winning at Chicago two weeks ago 28-19. The Packers then had last week off.

Green Bay, playing for its post-season life, spotted the Bears the first 10 points of the game two weeks ago, trailed 16-10 at the half and 19-10 into the fourth quarter. But the Pack rallied to take the lead with a TD and a field goal, then clinched the victory on a wonderful reverse bolt by rookie Christian Watson just inside the two-minute warning.

The Packers also came away with a most unlikely cover at -3.5.

Green Bay got out-gained by Chicago 409-357 but ran the ball for 175 yards and won the turnover battle 3-0, basically creating a +7 points differential.

Two games ago, the Packers gave up an alarming 363 yards on the ground and lost at Philadelphia 40-33. Three games ago, Green Bay got out-played by Tennessee and lost 27-17.

At 5-8 overall, the Packers trail the 7-5-1 Giants by 2.5 games and a tie-breaker in the battle for the No. 7 spot in the NFC playoff standings, with four games to play. But Green Bay still actually thinks it’s got a chance. The Packers need to win out from here and get help from elsewhere, but it starts with Monday night, a very winnable game.

On the injury front, Los Angeles is playing without its starting QB, WR Kupp, and DT Donald. And that’s a lot of missing production.

Rams-Packers Recent History

This series is tied all-time at 46-46-2, but Green Bay owns the upper hand as of late, winning seven of the last eight meetings SU and going 8-0 ATS. Most recently, just last year, the Packers built a 36-17 lead on their way to a 36-28 victory.
Rams at Packers Prediction ATS 12/19/22
Green Bay is actually still alive in the playoff race, albeit on life-support, while Los Angeles is just playing out the string on a lost season. Also, the Packers own the better running game, which might come in handy on a cold December night in Wisconsin. Also, the Rams just got lucky last week. We’re giving the points with Green Bay Monday night.
