Kansas City at Pittsburgh Game Overview

The Chiefs have been able to sandwich wins at home over San Diego and the New York Jets around a 19-12 loss to Houston on the road to start the season 2-1 straight-up. They failed to cover against the spread in their first two games and the total has stayed UNDER in their last two outings. Despite the loss to the Texans, they are still 13-2 SU in their last 15 games overall; however they do bring a five-game losing streak on the road against Pittsburgh into Sunday night’s game.

Kansas City’s offense has struggled out of the gate with an average of just 332.3 total yards a game. It is ranked 22nd in the league in passing yards and 21st in rushing yards gained. With Jamaal Charles still listed as questionable, the Chiefs are going need better production from both Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West running the ball. Alex Smith has completed 79-of-118 attempts for 786 yards and three touchdowns while getting picked off once and sacked nine times in three games.

The Steelers will try and pick up the pieces from one of their worst outings in recent memory. They went into Philadelphia last week as four-point favorites and limped away with a 34-3 beatdown to fall to 2-1 both SU and ATS on the year. Pittsburgh opened the season with a solid 38-16 win against Washington on the road as a 2.5-point favorite and it beat Cincinnati at home 24-16 while covering the three-point spread. The total has now stayed UNDER in its last two games.

While nothing worked on offense last week, the Steelers have still had success moving the ball through the air behind the play of veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. His favorite target remains Antonio Brown with 24 receptions for 305 yards and two scores, but running back DeAngelo Williams has caught 14 balls for 89 yards to add to his 258 yards rushing. The one big plus for Sunday night is the return of running back Le’Veon Bell, who missed the first three games due to another league suspension.

Kansas City at Pittsburgh Prediction
The Chief have already struggled in their first road game this year and they are coming into a very hostile environment this Sunday night at Heinz Field against a Steelers’ team looking to take out some frustration from last week’s loss.
The betting public continues to bet down the spread in this matchup, but that only makes Pittsburgh an even more attractive play. Lay the 5.5 points and bet on the Steelers to quickly return to form in front of the home-town crowd.
