Green Bay Packers vs. Los Angeles Chargers Week 9 Pick
Betting Odds

Green Bay just beat one AFC West outfit on the road and shoots for a repeat performance Sunday afternoon against the Chargers out in SoCal. The Packers are lined as road favorites for this one, but they might actually have more fans in the stands than the home team. How are we playing this game with our free NFL pick?

Packers vs. Chargers Set-Up

Green Bay is 7-1 on the season, owner of a four-game winning streak, after outlasting the Mahomes-less Chiefs in Kansas City Sunday night 31-24. The Packers jumped out to a 14-0 lead but trailed 17-14 at the half. Later, tied at 24, Green Bay took the final lead on a long Aaron Jones touchdown off a screenplay, then won it with a defensive stop and two first downs that ran the last five minutes off the clock.

The Packers also covered the spread as five-point road favorites.

On the night Green Bay out-gained KC 374-337, out-rushed the Chiefs 118-88 and won the time of possession 33:27.

Two weeks ago, the <a class="advblue" href="https://www.sportsbettingstats.com/nfl/oakland-raiders-vs-green-bay-pac… beat Oakland 42-24; just before that, they rallied to defeat Detroit 23-22, and just prior to that, they won at Dallas 34-24. At 7-1 overall, Green Bay leads the NFC North by a game and a half over Minnesota, but it's also a tie-breaker behind New Orleans in the battle for the No. 2 spot in the NFC standings.

San Diego (yes, we're calling the Chargers “San Diego” - they don't play in Los Angeles, either) is 3-5 on the season, after beating the Bears in Chicago last week 17-16. The Chargers, as four-point underdogs, trailed that game 16-7 late into the third quarter but used a 10-0 run to take the lead. They then survived a Bears field goal attempt at the buzzer that hooked just wide left.

On the day San Diego got out-gained 388-231 and out-rushed 162-36, made just 11 first downs to 26 for Chicago and lost time of possession 38:22. So the Chargers should consider themselves damn lucky to have won that game.

Last week's victory snapped a three-game losing skid for San Diego.

At 3-5 overall, the Chargers trail first-place Kansas City by two games in the AFC West, and they're two games behind Houston in the battle for the second AFC wild-card spot.

The Packers own a seven-game winning streak against the Chargers, stretching back to 1993. Most recent, back in 2015, Green Bay beat San Diego 27-20 at Lambeau Field.

Also, Aaron Rodgers is 2-0 against Philip Rivers.

Packers at Chargers Prediction 11/03/19
Despite last week's outcome, the Chargers are more apt to find a way to lose a game this season, while the Packers are finding ways to win games. Somewhere along the line, we expect Rodgers to come through with a big play or two, while Rivers seems prone to making mistakes. Also, Green Bay ranks third in the League with a +7 turnover ratio this season, while San Diego ranks 23rd at -3, and the Packers rank fifth in a time of possession at 31:55 while the Chargers rank 19th at 29:19. We're backing the Pack here for our free NFL pick.
