Denver at Kansas City Game Overview

Denver’s encouraging 3-1 straight-up start has been dampened lately with back-to-back losses to the New York Giants at home and to the Los Angeles Chargers on the road. The total stayed UNDER in both of those games with the Broncos tallying a combined 10 points. They are now 2-3-1 against the spread with the total staying UNDER in their last three outings.

This recent meltdown on offense may continue into Monday night with wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders still listed as questionable on the latest injury report. Denver is ranked 15th in the NFL in total yards per game (338.0) but it has fallen all the way to 24th in scoring with an average of 18 points per game. The weight on the Bronco’s defense to hold things together is getting heavier and heavier with each passing week.

The Chiefs were the toast of the town through the first five weeks of the season at 5-0 both SU and ATS, but suddenly there are some cracks in the foundation on both sides of the ball in recent losses to Pittsburgh at home and Oakland on the road both SU and ATS. The total went OVER 46.5 points in last Sunday’s 31-30 loss to the Raiders as three-point favorites and it has gone OVER in five of their first seven games.

Kansas City’s running game behind rookie Kareem Hunt was one of the big reasons why it got off to such a fast start and it also one of the big reasons why this team has lost its last two outings. The Chiefs only gained 28 yards on the ground in the loss to the Steelers and while Hunt rebounded a bit with 87 rushing yards against Oakland, the offense still fell way short of its 129-yard rushing average on the year. Kansas City also had some major issues on defense slowing the Raiders down.

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs Week 8 ATS Pick
Both of these teams come into this division matchup in need of a much better performance than the one they have put forth in their last two games, but more importantly, each one desperately need to stop the bleeding with a win. Denver is in tougher shape with its current injury situation and Kansas City is still a much better team overall. Lay the points and take the Chiefs to cover ATS.
