The Bengals won their first preseason game knocking off the Buccaneers 23-12 at home on the field of Paul Brown Stadium. The passing attack gained only 176 yards, but was efficient with the trio of QBs completing 17 of 22 passes for 176 net yards. The running game was strong, amassing 14o yards on 36 carries lead by QB Jeff Driskel who picked up 34 yards on five carries.

In their second game of the preseason, Cincinnati was crushed 30-13 by the Chiefs who easily covered as a -2.5 point road favorite. Kansas City ran over the Bengals rushing for 228 yards on 33 carries in the blowout. Cincinnati’s passing game was subpar passing for 204 yards on 17 of 34 passing and the rushing attack was dismal managing 72 yards on 21 carries.

The Redskins dropped their opener 23-3 in Baltimore to a surprisingly good Ravens team. The 20-point margin crushed the assigned point spread line of +2 by over three touchdowns. The Skins offense recorded just 8 first downs struggling with both the running game (18 carries for 39 yards) and the passing game (12 of 27 for 99 yards). Their defense was decent, but not spectacular holding the Ravens shorthanded unit to a combined 267 yards.

In Washington’s second game the passing game came alive racking up 271 yards on 27 of 45, but the running game continued to have its problems with 54 yards on 22 carries. The defense was okay in this game, allowing a total of 266 yards but they did allow two touchdown drives in the first 1.5 quarters.

<h2>
Game Motivation<br />
</h2>
<p>
The Redskins’ head coach Jay Gruden in the past has showed that he likes to get the W in these practice games putting together a nice 9-3 record in prior seasons. The Skins as mentioned have yet to get a win this preseason and I feel that Jay will be going all out for the victory today. He has already stated that the starters will play at least a half and may stay in for three quarters. Bengals HC Marv Lewis is an OK 30-29 lifetime in these sort of games, but what stands out is his Week 3 won/loss record of 4-10.

<h2>
Injury Report<br />
</h2>
<p>
Cincinnati is really hurting at the linebacker position with Kevin Minter, Brandon Bell and Hardy Nickerson all banged up and PJ Dawson is still wearing a cast. They do get good news on WR John Ross who is supposed to get his first taste of game action in Week 3.
</p>
<h2>
Public Money<br />
</h2>
<p>
On the spread line, the public isn’t decided with a slight edge to the host Redskins. For the O/U they have taken a strong position on the UNDER with 61% if the bets coming in on that side of total line.

Cincinnati Bengals at Washington Redskins Prediction Week 3 Preseason
I just don’t see the Bengals wanting this game as much. It looks like they’ll be shorthanded at LB and last week they had no answer for the Chiefs run attack. The Redskins offensive line hasn’t opened up the holes for the running game, but this was a good unit last season and could easily get in sync in Week 3. If Washington can get a running game going they can shred this defense today. Lay the points.
