Ravens-Buccaneers NFL Betting Preview

Baltimore continued its topsy-turvy season with a 23-20 victory over Cleveland last Sunday. The Ravens spotted the Browns the first seven points of the game but rallied to lead 13-10 at the half. Baltimore then scored the first seven points of the second half to go up two scores, allowed Cleveland to get within three points midway through the fourth quarter but held on from there. However, the Ravens came up short against the spread as 6.5-point favorites. Baltimore actually got out-gained by the Browns 336-254 but out-rushed Cleveland 160-113 and won both the turnover battle 2-1 and time of possession by a 34:26 split. The Ravens have now been out-gained by five of their seven opponents this season but they’ve also out-rushed each of their last six foes. Baltimore opened this season with a win over the Jets but it’s alternated L’s and W’s each week since. The Ravens are 4-3 overall but they could be 7-0, considering they’ve blown double-digit, second-half leads in all three defeats. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, is 1-4 SU, 0-5 ATS its last five times out, after losing at Carolina Sunday 21-3. The Buccaneers, favored by 11 points, trailed 7-0 at the half, didn’t hit the board until early in the fourth quarter and never hit pay-dirt all day. In the process Tampa became the first double-digit favorite to lose outright in the NFL this season. The Bucs got out-gained by the Panthers 343-322 and out-rushed 173-46. So Tampa Bay’s now been out-gained by four of its last six opponents and out-rushed by each of its last six foes. Two weeks ago the Buccaneers lost at Pittsburgh 20-18. So over the last two weeks Tampa’s lost games to two opponents with a combined record this season of 4-10. And that’s not a good sign.

Ravens-Bucs Recent History

These two teams don’t meet too often, just six times overall, Baltimore winning the last four. Most recently, four seasons ago, the Ravens beat Tampa 20-12 in Baltimore. Lamar Jackson, making his fifth career start, quarterbacked the Ravens that day against Jameis Winston for the Bucs.

Ravens at Buccaneers Prediction ATS

Baltimore should be 5-2 this season, maybe even 6-1, if not for some terrible prevent defense. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, is not the team many thought it was coming into this season. Ultimately, what sells us here is that the Ravens are out-rushing opponents by 51 yards per game while the Buccaneers are getting out-rushed by 54 YPG. And teams that win the ground battles are covering the spread at a 66 percent rate this season. We’re betting Baltimore Thursday night.
