Baltimore at Los Angeles Game Overview

The Ravens stayed a half-game off the pace to win the AFC North Division title with Sunday's 20-12 victory against Tampa Bay, but they failed to cover as 8.5-point home favorites. The total stayed UNDER the 44.5-point closing line in that game. Baltimore is 7-7 against the spread overall, and it has covered in four of its seven previous road games. The total has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games on the road.

Lamar Jackson has thrown for 818 yards and five touchdowns since taking over the reins at quarterback for the Ravens. He currently leads the team in rushing with 566 yards on 114 attempts. In Sunday’s win against the Buccaneers, he completed 14-of-23 passing attempts for 131 yards and a score while adding another 95 yards running the ball on 18 carries. Baltimore’s defense held Tampa Bay to just 156 yards passing as the top team in the NFL in average passing yards per game.

Los Angeles is coming off its most significant victory of the year after beating the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs 29-28 last Thursday on a last-second two-point conversion. The Chargers closed as 3.5-point road underdogs to tie the Chiefs at the top of the division. They have covered in three of their last four games to move to 8-6 ATS overall. Los Angeles has a 2-5 record ATS at home this season, and the total has stayed UNDER in four of its last five home games.

Veteran quarterback Philip Rivers is in the midst of one of his best seasons in a possible Hall of Fame career. He has completed 69.4 percent of his 447 passing attempts for 3,951 yards and 31 touchdowns. Keenan Allen has been his top target with 88 receptions for 1,074 yards and six of those scores. In Thursday night’s win against the Chiefs, Rivers threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns while completing 26 of his 38 passing attempts. With Allen out of the lineup with a hip injury, Mike Williams filled the void with seven catches for 76 yards and both scoring throws.

Baltimore at Los Angeles Prediction 12/22/2018
Each of these teams needs a win on Saturday night to help its chance to lock up a division title, but my lean is towards Los Angeles at home as the better all-around ball club. Jackson has provided a spark at quarterback, but this game comes down to the Ravens’ defense trying to slow down the potent Chargers’ offense.
