Oklahoma Sooners at Texas Longhorns Week 7 Pick
Betting Odds
<p>
In the annual Red River Rivalry undefeated and 6th ranked Oklahoma is a double-digit favorite facing 11th ranked Texas in a game that has major BCS implications. The Sooners have the top-ranked offense in the nation and rank 2nd in the nation averaging 53.4 ppg. However, they have played a weak schedule to date facing only one team that currently has a winning record, and that is Texas Tech. Last season Oklahoma lost to Texas in the Red River game but then beat them in the Big 12 title game.

<p>
Texas’ only loss this season was facing an LSU team that is currently unbeaten, and if they lose this game, they will have two losses and may be out of the college football playoff picture. They have won three in a row since the loss to LSU, and they have the nation's 17th ranked passing offense. According to ESPN's Heisman Watch, OU QB Jalen Hurts is No.1, and Texas QB Sam Ehlinger is No. 6. The Longhorns are double-digit underdogs mainly because of their defense, which only ranks 104th in the nation.

This game is being held at the neutral site of the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

Injury Concerns<br />
</h2>
<p>
<b>Oklahoma: </b>
</p>
<p>
Oklahoma comes into this game with not many injury concerns, and 4th leading rusher RB Kennedy Brooks is listed as questionable for this game.
</p>
<p>
<b>Texas: </b>
</p>
<p>
Texas already has many players out indefinitely and they have been hit hard by injuries already. DB Demarvion Overshown, WR Al'Vonte Woodard, DB Chris Brown, are listed as questionable for this game. DB B.J. Foster and WR Collin Johnson are both listed as probable, and RB Jordan Whittington is doubtful.

<h2>
When Oklahoma Has the Ball<br />
</h2>
<p>
Jalen Hurts leads the dynamic OU offense that is balanced and ranks 4th in the nation in passing yards per game and 5th in rushing yards per game. He has passed for 1,523 yards with 14 TD and only two INT and also leads the Sooners with 499 rushing yards. In Oklahoma's last game, they easily beat Kansas 45-20, where Hurts passed for 228 yards with two TD and rushed for 56 yards with two TD. In the backfield, the Sooners feature the RB duo of Trey Sermon and Rhamondre Stevenson, each of whom has at least 319 rushing yards and they combined for 180 rushing yards in the win over Kansas. CeeDee Lamb is one of the best WR's in the nation, and he leads the WR corps that has three players with at least 218 receiving yards with 439 of them, and he has seven TD. Hurts does only have two Int on the season, but both have come in the last two games. Still, he is looking for a big game in this big game facing a Texas pass defense that only ranks 125th in the nation.

When Texas Has the Ball<br />
</h2>
<p>
Texas will also look to use a balanced offense with Ehlinger (1,448 yards 17 TD 2 INT) and RB Keaontay Ingram (313 yards 3 TD). Backup QB Roschon Johnson is the 2nd leading rusher with 268 yards, and Ehlinger ranks 3rd on the Longhorns with 236 yards. Texas did not have their best game in their last one, which was a 45-31 win over West Virginia where Ehlinger passed for 211 yards with two TD and one INT, and Ingram only rushed for 18 yards on 11 carries. Johnson rushed for 121 yards, and Devin Duvernay, who leads a deep Texas WR corps, led the team in the win over West Virginia with 86 receiving yards.

<h3>
Betting Trends<br />
</h3>
<p>
Oklahoma is 3-2 ATS on the season, but they failed to cover the 32-point spread in their 45-20 win over Kansas in their last game. Texas is also sitting at 3-2 ATS, and they covered in their previous game in the win over West Virginia. The Longhorns have covered the spread in six of the last seven games facing the Sooners, and in all six games they covered, they were the underdog. Texas is 7-2 ATS in their previous nine games held at a neutral site, and Texas is 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games held at a neutral site. This season the Longhorns have an Over/Under record of 4-1 and 14-5-1 in their past 20 games.

Oklahoma at Texas Prediction 10/12/19
Texas is a great team, but they are facing Hurts and a dangerous passing offense for OU with a pass defense that only ranks 125th in the nation. OU's defense is improved over last season, and while they will not shut the Longhorns down, they will not give up a ton of points. On the other side of the coin, Hurts and company will light up the scoreboard, and because of that, the Sooners will win this game and cover the spread avenging their loss to Texas last season in the Red River rivalry.
