NC State is off to a solid 4-1 start both straight-up and against the spread including two big wins at home against Wake Forest and Notre Dame in its last two outings. Last Saturday, it grinded out a 10-3 win against the Fighting Irish in foul weather as a 2.5-point favorite after covering a 14-point spread against the Demon Deacons in a 17-point win in its ACC opener. The total has gone OVER or ended as a PUSH in four of its first five games.

The Wolfpack come into this Saturday’s game with a balanced offense that is averaging 34 points a game. Ryan Finley has thrown for 1,041 yards and nine touchdowns against zero interceptions and he has completed 69.5 percent of his 128 passing attempts. Matthew Dayes has led the way in the running game with 563 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 98 carries. NC State’s defense came up big in last week’s win and it is now tied for 15th in the nation in points allowed (17.6).

Clemson continues to lead the way in the ACC as one of the top teams in the nation. The SU 6-0 (4-2 ATS) Tigers posted a huge win over Louisville as slight one-point home underdogs and along with a road win against Georgia Tech in their ACC opener and a win at home last week against Boston College they have now covered in their last four games. The total has gone OVER in their last two games after staying UNDER in their first four contests this season.

There is little doubt that Clemson remains one of the elite teams in the country following last season’s run all the way to the national title game. Heisman hopeful Deshaun Watson continues to lead the offense with 1,572 yards passing and 18 touchdown throws. He is the team’s second-leading rusher behind Wayne Gallman (475 yards) with 244 yards on 58 attempts. The Tigers’ defense did give up 36 points in the recent win against Louisville, but on the year this unit is allowing an average of just 15 points a game.
