A potential trip a bowl game is on the line for Monroe while Lafayette has already clinched its berth into the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game. Mirroring the competitiveness and the passion of this rivalry, a field goal was needed to decide the victor in 2019. The winner was ULL. Closing as a 1.5-point road underdog, the Cajuns upset their rivals in a 31-28 thriller.

Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns Overview

Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks

Monroe comes into this match-up off a hard-fought win earned at home against the visiting Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. The Hawks were unable to cover the number as a six-point favorite winning 45-42 over CC to give them an opportunity at a bowl bid should they stage what would be an incredible upset. In the last decade, neither team has been priced in the range we see ULL positioned at in this spot.

Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns

The Ragin’ Cajuns cruised to a 53-3 win over visiting Troy on Saturday. Reflecting what we have seen out of the Cajuns all season in terms of profitability, Louisiana-Lafayette was easy money against the Trojans covering with no trouble at all as a 13-point home favorite.

Reasons to Back Louisiana-Monroe

In this instance, trends are something to pay attention to because they speak into how the rivalry transcends the venue. The Road Team is 14-1-1 ATS in the last 16 Battle of the Bayous, and Monroe has gone 4-0 ATS in their previous four visits to Lafayette. This game has always been the one circled on Monroe's calendar year in and year out, and they will come into this game with a chip on their shoulders given how the market has perceived them in this contest.

Reasons to Avoid Louisiana-Lafayette

As a whole, ULL is in prime position to be overvalued since it has been an ATM that spits out free money all year long. The Ragin' Cajuns ATS record matches their straight-up mark (9-2), and this in itself puts Lafayette in position to be laying bigger numbers than usual, especially against teams in its own conference that it has ransacked for the most part. However, five of the last six meetings between both sides have been settled by one score, which makes them a dubious play here laying what would have to be classed as a substantial amount of lumber.

Louisiana-Monroe at Louisiana-Lafayette Prediction 11/30/19
ULL will not be looking past ULM as it prepares for a re-match with Appalachian State. The Cajuns know what they are in for against their old foes. Though Louisiana-Lafayette will be prepared for Louisiana-Monroe, they won't win this game by three scores, either. Monroe will hang around long enough until Lafayette finally pulls away. However, I don't see the Cajuns extending their lead by more than 14 and thus recommend taking the likely inflated points.
