One of the best rivalries in the ACC will be renewed this Saturday afternoon on the football field at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill when the Duke Blue Devils make the short commute from Durham to square off against the North Carolina Tar Heels in a 3:30 p.m. (ET) start on ESPNU.

Duke at North Carolina Game Overview

The Blue Devils are off to a perfect 3-0 start both straight-up and against the spread following last week’s 34-20 victory at home against Baylor as 10.5-point favorites. The total stayed UNDER 60.5 points in that game after it went OVER 54.5 points in their 41-17 pasting of Northwestern as two-point underdogs on the road. Duke is now 8-2 ATS over its last 10 games and it has covered ATS in 11 of its last 16 road games.

A big part of the Blue Devils’ early success can be attributed to the play of sophomore quarterback Daniel Jones. He has completed 64.8 percent of his 105 passing attempts for 702 yards and four touchdowns through his first three starts. More impressive has been Duke’s ability to move the ball down the field on the ground with 722 total rushing yards on 157 attempts. Shaun Wilson has led the way with 293 rushing yards and an average of 7.1 yards a run, but Brittain Brown is a close second with 235 yards on 42 carries.

It has been a mixed bag for the Tar Heels through their first three games with a 1-2 start SU and a 1-1-1 record ATS. They lost their season opener to Cal 35-30 as heavy 13-point road favorites before earning a PUSH against Louisville in their ACC opener in a 47-35 loss at home as 12-point underdogs. North Carolina played as expected last week in a 53-23 romp over Conference USA’s Old Dominion Monarchs as an 11-point favorite on the road. The total has gone OVER the closing line in all three games.

Chazz Surratt is probably not going to be confused with Mitch Trubisky just yet, but the freshman quarterback has played rather well with 588 yards passing and four scoring strikes against zero interceptions. He has completed 46 of his first 66 passing attempts including 15 to Austin Proehl for 223 yards for an average of 14.9 yards a catch. Jordon Brown has led North Carolina’s ground game with 200 yards on 37 attempts for an average of 5.4 yards a carry.

Duke Blue Devils at North Carolina Tar Heels Week 4 Prediction
These two teams matchup extremely well against one another behind a pair of well-balanced offenses that know how to put points on the board. This heated rivalry has gone back and forth over the past few seasons with Duke holding the slight 3-2 edge both SU and ATS in the last five meetings. With the Blue Devils squeezing out the one-point win last season as heavy 11-point home underdogs, I am looking for North Carolina to even the score this year getting points at home.
