Butler Bulldogs at Saint Louis Billikens Overview

Butler Bulldogs

The Bulldogs come into this contest on a two-game winning streak against some high-profile teams when they defeated both the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders and then the Florida Gators to finish fifth in the 2018 Battle for Atlantis in the Bahamas. The Bulldogs have not taken the court since winning 61-54 as a pick-em against the Gators nine days ago.

Saint Louis Billikens

The Bills come in off a 73-61 win at home against Central Arkansas where they failed to cover as 17-point chalk eight days ago. Previous to this, the Billikens lost a heartbreaker to the eventual Barclay's Center Classic Champion Pittsburgh Panthers when they fell by just a bucket to a Pitt team that is undoubtedly flirting with a ranking at this point this season.

Reasons To Avoid Butler

We have yet to see how the Bulldogs fare in a true away game this season. However, the public will put more emphasis on Butler’s impressive victories at The Battle of Atlantis than give any credence to the fact that the Billikens are undefeated at home this season. Saint Louis is also a bucket away from being undefeated and comparatively had they defeated Pittsburgh they may have had the best win of both outfits this season. Butler in no way should be spotting points on the road given an unproven track record in hostile settings to a team that knows how to win on its own court.

Reasons To Back Saint Louis

In addition, Saint Louis is in a true buy-low situation here on their own court. Though the Billikens have been unscathed in the Chaifetz Arena, they have yet to foster a cover because their home court advantage is recognized by the markets at-large. Given the low hanging fruit next to Butler's name, this seems like a prime scenario to lay the small wood, but in fact, this could be the best time to go on board with the Bills who are in position for a market correction on their own floor. Moreover, the Bills are the more physical team on the boards generating a 51st ranked 40.5 offensive rebounds per game to Butler’s 302nd ranked 33 offensive boards per game. When you couple this with the fact that the Bills allow opponents to shoot just 29.9% from the three-point line (77th in the country) and 38.4% overall from the field (40th nationally), Butler could be set up for a cold night in a very unfriendly environment which plays perfectly into the Bills’ hands.

Butler Bulldogs at Saint Louis Billikens Prediction 12/01/2018
The Billikens will likely be worth a look on the Money Line here at +140, but we'll take the conservative approach here and grab the points. The Billikens will mitigate the Bulldog offense and turn this affair into a defensive one. In such a scenario, Saint Louis has a tremendous advantage with some really good home cooking behind them.
