Toronto Raptors at Oklahoma City Thunder Pick
Betting Odds

The Toronto Raptors (25-14) and Oklahoma City Thunder (23-17) will square off in a Western Conference versus Eastern Conference clash on Wednesday, January 15th, 2020, with a scheduled tip-off time of 8:00 PM ET. The last time these two sides met was nothing short of a thriller as OKC edged the Raptors 98-97 in the Great White North when the two met on December 29th, 2019. The resultant allowed the Thunder to produce a Money Line winner as a 4.5-point underdog. OKC is 5-1 ATS in their last six against Toronto.

Toronto Raptors at Oklahoma City Thunder Overview

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors were last in action three days ago when they hosted the San Antonio Spurs and were shocked in the Great White North 105-104. Closing as a 4.5-point favorite, the Raptors failed to cover for their third consecutive game.

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder have gone 8-2 SU in their last ten outings. Most recently, OKC was in action on the road on Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Closing as a two-point favorite, the Thunder were "cash money" when they defeated the T-Wolves 117-104.

Reasons to Back Toronto

The Raptors' defensive efforts are something that puts Toronto in a position to be competitive in virtually any game they participate in. Toronto bodes the fourth-best scoring defense in the NBA (105.2 points per game), along with being ranked second overall in opponent field goal percentage (42.4%) and the opposition shooting 33.1% from three-point range against them (3rd in the NBA). Given the fact that Oklahoma City sits 23rd from beyond the arc (34.1% three-point percentage) along with averaging 109.2 points per game offensively (19th overall), I expect Toronto’s defense to set the ebb and flow of this game which puts them in position to stage an upset, if one should even call it that. Outside of the chalk talk, there is also little question Toronto will be fired up to avenge the loss at home suffered nearly a few weeks ago.

Reasons to Avoid Oklahoma City

The Thunder has been what some have called a "darling" against the spread. OKC has gone 9-1 ATS in their previous ten matches, and they have virtually covered every spot at will. With this being said, the Thunder are in a position to be overvalued here, which would imply that if Oklahoma City boded Toronto's ATS record in their last ten outings (4-6 ATS) that the Thunder would actually be a home underdog here. As a result of these circumstances, the Thunder are likely being played at a bad number here, and I will not endorse getting behind them.

Raptors at Thunder Prediction
Though it is hard to determine who will be lifting the hardware when the 2019-20 season is all said and done, there is little question that the Raptors have carried itself as a champion in their title defense season-to-date. After all, the Raps have seen a superstar that catapulted them to prominence leave town, and they have endured injuries to key personnel, and yet they continue to find ways to win and stay relevant. Situationally, this is another scenario where Toronto's champion pedigree will carry it to what will ultimately be an impressive road win for the Dino's. I'll grab the Raptors plus the point.
