San Antonio at Golden State Game Overview

The Spurs came into the playoffs with a straight-up 4-4 record in their last eight regular-season games while failing to cover against the spread in five of those contests. They were no match for Golden State in Saturday's series opener in a lopsided 113-92 loss as eight-point road underdogs. San Antonio has now lost its last nine road games SU with a costly 1-8 record ATS. It was 14-27 SU on the road this season while going 15-25-2 ATS.

Game 1 was never close with the Spurs trailing by 11 points after the first quarter of play. LaMarcus Aldridge ended the game with 14 points after going 5-for-12 from the field. The rest of San Antonio's starters accounted for a combined 19 points in the losing effort. Rudy Gay was the Spurs leading scorer in that game with 15 points off the bench. The more significant concern could be the lapse on the other end of the court from a defense that was ranked first in the NBA in points allowed (99.8).

Golden State played one of its best games of the season without Stephen Curry on the floor, which could spell some bad news for San Antonio. When Curry went down with a sprained MCL in left knee in late March, the Warriors slipped to a 4-6 record over their last ten games both SU and ATS. The total stayed UNDER the closing 205.5-point line in Saturday's win after going OVER in four of their previous six games.

In Curry's absence in Game 1, Klay Thompson scored a game-high 27 points while connecting on 11 of his 13 shots from the field including five buckets from three-point range. Kevin Durant added 24 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists to help pace the win. Golden State shot 54.3 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc while outrebounding the Spurs 51-30. Things do not get much more dominant than that.

San Antonio at Golden State Prediction 04/16/2018
The Spurs have been a horrible road team the entire season, and that was rather evident in their Game 1 loss. Turning things around in just two days is going to be a tall task for a team on pace for an early exit from the postseason. That said, with the spread for this game a bit wider than Saturday's opener, I am banking on a much better effort from San Antonio as a seasoned playoff team to cover with the 10 points.
