Despite all the reasons to suggest that this number should be higher based on previous match-ups and the Knicks being in worse form than the Sixers, the market is giving just an extra point compared to the last meeting between the two. In reading between the lines, the market is taking a position that equates to reluctance in believing the Sixers can produce another dominant win against their rivals.

We have seen Philadelphia spot lofty numbers to the opposition primarily because of the perception of this team having a significant home-court advantage. The Sixers had won their first ten at home this season before the Cleveland Cavaliers of all of the teams ended their unscathed home court record as a double-digit underdog. Since then, the Sixers have gone 4-2 SU, but those two losses comprise the last two outings Philly has on their own court. One of the culprits was the Brooklyn Nets, a team comparable to the Knicks in many facets. It is not out of reason to suspect an upset is brewing here yet takers will be playing a lofty number to back Philly given the location and their dominance as of recent against the Knicks.

Building upon the premise of Sixers backers paying a premium to back Philly in this spot due to their profitability and success in this series, it is worth noting that Philadelphia stands at 8-1 ATS in the previous nine matches between these two teams. That will change this evening. The Knicks are looking for a way to lift themselves out of a slump, and there is no better way to do that then to get into a fistfight with a team that they hate that has bullied them much of as of late. The Knicks will throw everything they have at the 76ers and given the fact they own edges in both the turnover and bench department, we like their prospects of hanging around late into this game and giving Philly a scare at the minimum.
