Milwaukee Bucks at Dallas Mavericks Pick
Betting Odds

The revamped Dallas Mavericks will host one of the best teams in the NBA, as the Milwaukee Bucks come to town Friday night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. straight from American Airlines Center. Dallas enters this game on a two-game winning streak and 5-5 over their last 10 games. At 25-28 on the season, the Mavs are currently out of the playoff race. This is one of those teams that is more prepared for years to come, rather than built for right now. Your future is going to look bright when you have two of the best young stars in the league right now between, Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Dallas owner Mark Cuban has already said Porzingis, “probably will not play,” for the Mavs this season as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.

Dallas Setting up for Future

This offseason presents one of the best free agent classes in years and Dallas should present themselves as a very exciting destination. Porzingis falls into a perfect situation where he’ll get to learn from Dirk Nowitzki, one of the best power forwards to ever play the game. Depending on what kind of moves the Mavs make this offseason, getting a player like Kemba Walker in free agency would really help this team take that next step forward. Dallas made some noise before the trade deadline by dealing Harrison Barnes to the Sacramento Kings. Barnes will almost certainly pick up his $25.1 million player option for next season. This is now a league where every team needs at least a “Big 3” in order to compete. Since Dallas plays in the Western Conference against Golden State, you’ll probably need a “Big 4.”

Milwaukee Future is Now

The Bucks dropped 148 points on the Wizards in their last game, as Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with 43 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Everyone knew it was going to be a high-scoring game when the Bucks scored 50 points in the first quarter alone. The "Greek Freak" is hungry for the MVP award averaging a team-high 27 ppg, 5.9 apg, and 12.4 rpg. Giannis has helped lead this Bucks team to a 40-13 record, as well as 9-1 over their previous 10 games. The win against Wizards stretched the Bucks winning streak to five games, and we could see another high-scoring game Friday night. The matchup everybody wants to see is Giannis against Luka, but Doncic is currently listed as questionable against the Bucks with a right thigh contusion. Doncic is coming off his third triple-double of the season, as he becomes the youngest player in history to post that many in a single season. The rookie's status is something to keep an eye on in the lead-up to Friday's game. Milwaukee has gone 17-9 on the road this season and Dallas holds a 19-7 record when playing at home. ESPN's matchup predictor is giving the Bucks a 65.8% chance to win this game.

Bucks at Mavericks Prediction 02/08/2019
If Luka does end up sitting, then we don't really see a scenario in which the Mavs can win. If he does suit up, that would give Dallas a better chance of pulling off the upset at home. Regardless - not happening. Milwaukee is the better team.
