Memphis at Minnesota Game Overview

Memphis has been riding out the string for some time with an overall record of 19-54. It has just one straight-up victory in its last 24 games, and its current losing streak stands at four games following Saturday's 100-93 setback against the Los Angeles Lakers as a six-point home underdog. The Grizzlies have failed to cover in eight of their last ten games and their record against the spread on the road this season is 14-20-1. The total has gone OVER in five of their previous seven games.

NBA teams are not supposed to tank the season for a better shot at the top pick in the draft, but it would be hard to argue against the fact that Memphis has gotten far too used to losing since the end of January. The Grizzlies are ranked last in the NBA in scoring with an average of 98.7 points per game. In a recent loss to Charlotte as eight-point underdogs on the road, the final score was 140-79 against another team out of postseason contention. The 61-point deficit was the most in an NBA game since 1998. Tyreke Evans is the team’s leading scorer with 19.4 PPG, but he has missed three of his last four starts for various reasons, and he is listed as ‘out' for Monday night.

The Timberwolves are clinging to the seventh playoff spot in the West at 42-32, but they have not done themselves any favors lately with a shaky 4-6 SU record over their last ten games. They are coming off a 120-108 road loss to Philadelphia as eight-point underdogs. Minnesota is 3-7 ATS in those last ten games with the total going OVER in seven of its last nine outings. It has gone 27-9 SU at home this season with a 3-5 record ATS in its previous eight home games.

Minnesota got a strong effort from its bench in Saturday’s loss with four different players scoring in double figures. The duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins accounted for 31 points, but the Timberwolves’ defense had no answer for Philadelphia’s top two stars. Towns leads the team in scoring in the absence of an injured Jimmy Butler with 20.8 points, and he is pulling down a team-high 12.2 rebounds a game. The Timberwolves are ranked sixth in the NBA in scoring with 110.0 PPG, but they fall to 20th when it comes to points allowed (107.7).

Memphis at Minnesota Prediction 03/26/2018
You can pretty much guarantee that Memphis loses again on Monday night, so betting this game comes down to Minnesota covering a hefty spread at home. While the Timberwolves have not been a reliable betting team as of late, these are the type of matchups that they should be able to win going away. I also like the OVER in this conference tilt, but my ‘best bet’ pick is Minnesota both SU and ATS on its home court.
